Mr. Ronald Jewell "Ron" Hocker, age 71, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on February 1, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the loving son of the late Edward Welcome & Martha Elizabeth (Allen) Hocker. Ron earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law. On June 2, 1962, Ron wed Marylou Marta in Coral Gables, Florida, and to this union arrived one son & one daughter to bless their home. Ron and Marylou shared nearly 42 years of marriage until her death on January 26, 2004. Ron established Hocker Law Offices in Vevay on October 31, 1973, and has enjoyed practicing law with his son Matt for the last several years. Ron served as President & CEO of National Attorney's Title Assurance Fund Inc., and opened Valley Title Services in Vevay in 1974. He was a member of the Indiana Bar Association. Ron was a former member of the Vevay Main Street Program, and was instrumental in establishing the Main Street Flower Pot Program. Ron has served as attorney for the Town of Vevay, Switzerland County School Corporation, Ohio County Council, East Enterprise Sewer District and the Town of Patriot. Ron and Marylou had resided in Vevay, Indiana since October 31, 1973. Along with collecting coins & stamps, Ron collected real estate with the idea of rehabbing buildings & leaving them better than when he acquired them. His most recent project, the re-opening and renovations of the Vevay Swiss Inn, is one he shared with his daughter Stacy. Ron was a Master Gardener and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, but most of all, working. Ron was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle & dear friend. He will truly be missed in the Switzerland County Community that he so dearly loved. Ron died at 1:15 pm, Monday, December 9, 2013, at the Indiana University Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Ron will be missed by his son: Matthew Edward Hocker of Vevay, IN; his daughter: Stacy Lynn Hocker-Streett & her husband: Tim of Vevay, IN; his grandchildren: Robert Louis Hocker, Charles Matthew Hocker, Gabriel Allan Streett & Mary Elizabeth Streett; his sister: Marilyn Hocker-Sutton & her husband: Joe of Fishers, IN; his brother: Richard Hocker & his wife: Dee Ann of Indianapolis, IN; his good friend: Meredith Luhrs of Vevay, IN; his nephews: Bill Mowry, Andy Sutton, Kelly Hocker, Kyle Hocker, John Sutton, Christopher Hunt; his nieces: Beth Mowry, Heather Gibbs, Shelly Sutton, Holly Perkins & Valorie Hunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward Welcome & Martha Elizabeth (Allen) Hocker; his wife of nearly 42 years: Marylou (Marta) Hocker; his sister: Barbara Jean (Hocker) Mowry.

A celebration of his life will be conducted Saturday, December 14, 2013, at 2:00 pm, by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

A reception will be held immediately following the Celebration of His Life on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at the Switzerland County Community Art Center on the corner of Ferry & Main Streets.
