Life Story for Kathleen Marie "Kaye" Brindley

Kathleen Marie "Kaye"  Brindley
Kathleen Marie "Kaye" (Mann) Brindley, age 91, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on August 28, 1922, in Nicholas County, Kentucky, the youngest child of the late, Francis M. & Cathryn Elizabeth (Boone) Mann. Of the six children born, Kaye was the last member of her generation to pass away. Kaye's mother died in 1925. Kaye was then raised by her older sisters who lived in Kentucky & Indiana. Kaye attended a beautician school in Indianapolis, Indiana & lived in New Augusta (on the edge of Indianapolis,) for 30 years. She then moved to Vevay to start a new life on the Ohio River. Kaye founded the Homestead Realty & later Landmark Realty & Good Earth Realty. Kaye enjoyed collecting, buying & selling antiques. She loved adventure in her life as well as fishing, mushroom hunting, horses, a good laugh, country songs & all her pals in the Vevay Community. Kaye knew almost everyone in the county & was very community minded by helping with the development of Switzerland County as a tourist destination. Kaye appreciated the beautiful Ohio River, the wonderful homes, rich heritage & the people of Switzerland County. She was a member of the Switzerland County Historical Society, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #185 & the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #5396 in Vevay, Indiana. Kaye died at 5:55 am, Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Kaye is survived by her daughter: Charlye Kaye Brown of West Alexandria, OH; her granddaughter: Andrea Schell & her husband: Darrel of Fort Thomas, KY; her grandson: Steve Brown & his wife: Katie of San Antonio, TX; her great-grandchildren: Sydnie, Sophie, Ernie, Grace, Andrew & Jack; her very special nephew: Russ Gilliom & his wife: Lois of Churubusco, IN; her great-niece & great-nephew: Erica & Ben & other relatives & friends in the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Francis M. & Cathryn Elizabeth (Boone) Mann; her son: Roger Allen "Rocky" Hollingsworth, died April 3, 2014; her 2-brothers & her 3-sisters.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm , Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
