Life Story for Mrs. Elizabeth Geneva "Libby" (Houze) Cole

Mrs. Elizabeth Geneva "Libby"   (Houze) Cole
Mrs. Elizabeth Geneva "Libby" (Houze) Cole, age 96, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on October 30, 1917, in Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of the late, Lora Ellis & Cassie Kathleen (Barker) Houze. She was raised in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, where she attended school. Libby was united in marriage on January 11, 1936, at the Fairview United Methodist Parsonage in Fairview, Indiana, to the late, Dilver Wallace Cole & to this union arrived three daughters, Reta, June & Pat to bless their home. Libby & Dilver shared 51 years of marriage together until his death on February 14, 1987. She was later united in marriage in 1992 at the East Enterprise Methodist Church in East Enterprise, Indiana, to the late, Loren Banta. Libby was a former employee of the LaVelle's Dry Cleaners, Merz Meat Locker in Vevay, Indiana, Brett's Grocery Store in East Enterprise, Indiana, the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, L.J. Osborne's Five & Dime in Vevay, Indiana & a former waitress for Peters Restaurant in East Enterprise, Indiana. She enjoyed helping at the meal site at the Vevay Senior Center in Vevay, Indiana. She was a member of the Center Square Baptist Church in Center Square, Indiana. Libby resided most of her life in the Switzerland County Community. She enjoyed helping her husband, Dilver on the family farm. She was always creative & enjoyed interior design. Libby was a wonderful homemaker & will be remembered for her love of working in her garden, her flowers, playing Bingo, singing & selling Avon. Libby died at 7:25 pm, Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Libby will be missed by her daughters: Reta Gray & her husband: Evon of Moorefield, IN, Barbara June Rice & her husband: Robert of Biggs, CA, Pat Slack & her husband: Bob of East Enterprise, IN; her grandchildren: Jeffrey Wayne Gray, Tracy Andrew Gray, Jacquline Kelly Tobar, Terry Lynn Dickerson, Scott Thomas Dickerson, Amy Slack Hoskins, Sarah Beth Nibarger, Lisa Diane Lee, David Robert Rice, Jonell Elaine Willis; her great-grandchildren: April Dawn Konkle, Joei Nicole Gray, Noel Evon Gray, Bethany Penn, Christopher Penn, Bret Tobar, Cody Dickerson, Dylan Dickerson, Elizabeth A. Nibarger, Annalee L. Hoskins, Tanner Gray, Taylor Gray, Treyton Gray, Hanna Willis, Coby Willis, Jonah Willis, Grace Lee, Jordan Lee, Jayce Lee, Allison Rice, Cindy Rice, Nathan Rice & Ryan Rice; her great-great-grandchildren: McKayla Offinger, Kristina Offinger, Kayla Feeler, Kaiden Konkle, Kenley Konkle & Colton Konkle; her several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Lora Ellis & Cassie Kathleen (Barker) Houze; her 1st husband of 51 years: Dilver Wallace Cole, died February 14, 1987; her 2nd husband: Loren Banta; her grandson: Robert Darin Slack, died February 1971; her brothers: Ellis Houze & Fred "Bud" Houze; her sisters: Freda Eades Hord & Dorothy Peters.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 11:00 am, by Pastor K.C. Banta & Rev. Gary Shepherd, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery, East Enterprise, Indiana

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Jennings County, Center Square Baptist Church or Long Run Baptist Church. Cards are available at the funeral home.
