Mr. Thomas B. "Buddy" Emery, Jr., age 73, of Bennington, Indiana, entered this life on February 16, 1941, in Madison, Indiana, the son of the late, Thomas C. & Dixie (McIntosh) Emery. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he attended the Patriot High School & Vevay High School, where he later graduated. Buddy was inducted into the United States Army on November 4, 1963 in Louisville, Kentucky, serving during the Vietnam War. Buddy earned the Expert Rifle, Marksman Pistol, the Good Conduct Medal & the M-79 Grenade Launcher Class 2D. Buddy was honorable discharged with the rank of Private First Class on November 3, 1965, at Fort Riley, Kansas. Buddy was united in marriage on December 22, 1967, to Gloria Dean Leap & to this union arrived two sons, Leon & Mickey & a daughter, Rebecca to bless their home. Buddy enjoyed transporting the Amish, for 20 years, retiring in April 2014. Buddy was a former employee for the Switzerland County Highway Department & in Maintenance for the Switzerland County School Corporation. He was a member of the Coon Hunter Club in East Enterprise, Indiana & the Vevay American Legion Post #185. Buddy attended the Bennington United Methodist Church in Bennington, Indiana. Buddy enjoyed farming tobacco & will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, trapping & spending time with his grandkids. Buddy died at 6:49 pm, Thursday, September 4, 2014, at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Buddy will be missed by his sons: Leon Emery & his wife: Shelly of Cross Plains, IN, Mickey Emery & his wife: Kendra of Versailles, IN; his daughter: Rebecca "Becky" Emery of Bennington, IN; his grandchildren: Brandy Emery, Damien Nicholas Garvey & Zachary Thomas Garvey; his sisters: Anna Bailey of Fairview, IN, Shirley Kay Sullivan of Vevay, IN; his several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas C. & Dixie (McIntosh) Emery; his sisters: Shookie Emery & Myrtle "Mickey" Emery; his brothers: John William Emery, Charles Wayne Emery & James Wesley Emery.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Mike Jones & Pastor Keith Morris, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery, Patriot, Indiana. Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 & the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the cemetery.
