Mr. Arthur Russell Holdcroft, age 97, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on February 22, 1917, in Knox County, Illinois, the son of the late, John G. & Chloe Ethel (Church) Holdcroft. He was raised in Knox County, Illinois & later moved to Switzerland County, Indiana, at the age of 9, where he was a 1935 graduate of Vevay High School. Arthur was united in marriage on December 19, 1936, in Vevay, Indiana, to Florence Elizabeth Littrell & to this union arrived a daughter, Doris Ann & a son, James Russell to bless their home. Arthur & Florence shared nearly 78 years of marriage together until his death. Arthur was a former School Bus Driver for the Switzerland County School Corporation, retiring after 27 years of service. Arthur was a member of the Spring Branch Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming all of his life, carpentry & woodworking in his shop. Arthur was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & brother. Arthur died at 3:50 pm, Thursday, October 30, 2014, at his residence in Vevay, Indiana.

Arthur will be missed by his loving wife of nearly 78 years: Florence Elizabeth (Littrell) Holdcroft of Vevay, IN; his daughter: Doris Ann (Hagan) Jenkins of Vevay, IN; his daughter-in-law: Anna Holdcroft of Lamb, IN; his grandchildren: Ginger Peters, Tamara Holdcroft, James Holdcroft, Todd Hagan & Susan (Hagan) Spain; his great-grandchildren: Chris Peters, Natalie Peters, Jace Leiland, Echo Nicole Hagan, T.J. Hagan, Amber Thompson, Lindsay Spain, Raymond Spain & Grace Spain; his great-great-grandchildren: Camden Peters, Kaney Peters & Lucas Thompson; his several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John George & Chloe Ethel (Church) Holdcroft; his son: James Russell Holdcroft, died November 1, 1991; his sisters: Hazel White & Julia Ellen "Judy" Rieman.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 3, 2014, at 1:00 pm, by Rev. Ronald Sandidge, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
