Life Story for Colleen Elizabeth Lamson (Rayles)

Mrs. Colleen E. (Rayles) Lamson , age 89, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on July 3, 1925, in Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of the late, Edward Ira and Mayme Alma (Gieske) Rayles. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a 1943 graduate of Vevay High School, where she played softball. Colleen was united in marriage on March 3, 1946, at the First Baptist Church in Madison, Indiana to the late, Robert Bruce Lamson. Colleen and Robert shared 26 years of marriage together until Robert passed away on April 11, 1972. Colleen was a former cook at the Switzerland County High School, for 15 years. She was a member of the Spring Branch Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. Colleen spent 3 months with her husband and her daughter, Lynn, who was just 5 years old in Tombstone, Arizona. Colleen was a wonderful homemaker and will be remembered for her love of Indiana Basketball and traveling with her sisters to Hawaii, Florida and the Carolina's. Colleen died at 9:17 pm, Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at her residence in Vevay, Indiana.

Colleen will be missed by her son: Bruce Lamson of Vevay, IN; her daughters: Lynn Koch & her husband: Wayne of Marengo, IN, Valerie Tolliver & her husband: Dayl of Mims, FL & Pamela Miller & her husband: Michael of Aurora, IN; her grandchildren: Aaron, Kris, Micah, Ryan, Wes, Molly, Robert & Jeffery; her great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Matthew, Lexi, Nathan, Kaleb, Kyler, Kylie & MaKayla; her several nieces & nephews & her dear friend: Shirley Hewitt of Vevay, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward Ira & Mayme Alma (Gieske) Rayles; her husband: Robert Bruce Lamson, died April 11, 1972; her sisters: Alma Ricketts, Lula Farrar, Avalyn Moreillon, Anona Lamb, Lorene Lovelace, Karama Smith; her brothers: Leonard, Leland, Leslie & William Rayles.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 20, 2015, at 11:00 am, by Pastor Dave Taylor, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, April 19, 2015, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
