Mrs. Rita L. (Thomas) Peters, age 73, of Patriot, Indiana, entered this life on May 28, 1941, in Gallatin County, Kentucky, the thirteenth child born to the late, Sam E. & Mary R. (Gross) Thomas. Rita was united in marriage on August 3, 1959, in Vevay, Indiana, to Dale V. Peters & to this union arrived two daughters, Beverly & Mary to bless their home. Rita & Dale shared nearly 56 years of marriage together until her death. Rita was a wonderful homemaker, mother, caregiver & boss. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Rising Sun, Indiana. Rita will be remembered for her love of reading & her family & was lovingly cared for 4 years, 8 months & 3 days by the staff at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. Rita died at 9:07 am, Monday, April 20, 2015, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Rita will be missed by her husband of nearly 56 years: Dale V. Peters of Patriot, IN; her daughters: Beverly Powers & her husband: Dale of Patriot, IN & Mary Peters of Patriot, IN; her grandchildren: Laura Silvers, Laythan Thomas, Abigale Thomas, Olivia Thomas & Wade Rider; her great-grandson: Roark Michael Silvers; her sisters: June Wainscott of French, IN, Betty Rider of Patriot, IN & Sue Thomas of Patriot, IN; her brother: Samuel Thomas of Vevay, IN & her several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Sam E. & Mary R. (Gross) Thomas; her brothers: James Edward "Eddie" Thomas, Howard Thomas, Richard Thomas, Bernard Thomas, Leroy Thomas & an infant brother; her sisters: Barbara Thomas & Mary Frances Thomas.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 24, 2015, at 1:00 pm, by Bro. Hobert Byrd, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
