Life Story for Leon Jackson Jr.

Leon  Jackson Jr.
Mr. Leon Jackson, Jr., age 71, of Rising Sun, Indiana, entered this life on April 13, 1944, in Pineville, Kentucky, the son of the late, Leon Sr. and Evelyn (Napier) Hamilton. He was raised in Pineville, Kentucky and resided in the Switzerland County community since 1978. Leon was inducted into the United States Navy on July 25, 1962, in Cincinnati, Ohio, serving during the Vietnam War. He earned the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal. Leon was honorably discharged with the rank of AMH3 E4 on August 24, 1966, at DET Alameda. Leon was united in marriage on May 7, 1964, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mary Ann Collins and to this union arrived two sons, Leon III and James and a daughter, Michelle to bless their home. Leon and Mary Ann shared 51 years of marriage together until his death. He was employed as an Electrician for the Kroger company in Cincinnati, Ohio, retiring in 1990 after 21 years of service. Leon enjoyed fishing and hunting. Leon died at 4:35 pm, Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Leon will be missed by his wife of 51 years: Mary Ann (Collins) Jackson of Rising Sun, IN; his sons: Leon Jackson, III. & his wife: Robin of Rising Sun, IN, James Earl Jackson & his fiancée: Aimee Hungler of Cincinnati, OH; his daughter: Michelle Scott & her husband: Mark of Newark, OH; his grandchildren: Kayla, Crystal, Jenny, Amber, Justin, Colby, Madison, Tyler, Mia & Inara; his great-grandchildren: Ava, Aiden, Koltyn & Christian; his sisters: Betty Hensley of Rising Sun, IN, Juanita Brothers of Georgetown, KY, Sheila Lynette of Fort Myers, FL, Mel Wellbrock of Cincinnati, OH & Sandy Vierling of Cincinnati, OH; his brothers: Renfro Bishop of Rising Sun, IN, Earl Jackson of East Enterprise, IN, Ben Jackson of East Enterprise, IN, Pastor David Jackson of Cincinnati, OH, Harry Jackson of West Harrison, IN & Pete Jackson of Fort Myers, FL & his numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Leon Jackson, Sr. & Evelyn (Napier) Hamilton & his brother: Hubert Bishop.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at 11:00 am, by Pastor David Jackson, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Full military rites & Interment will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 & the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the New Liberty Cemetery, East Enterprise, Indiana.

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
