Life Story for Brooklyn Mackenzie Alexis Lustig

Brooklyn Mackenzie Alexis Lustig
Miss Brooklyn Mackenzie Alexis Lustig, age 13, of Vevay, Indiana, went home to be with Jesus at 12:23 am, Friday, July 31, 2015. She packed a lot of joy in her thirteen years and now watches over a family who loved her fiercely. Brooklyn had a smile as wide and bright as an Indiana sunset, eyes that sparkled like stars and beautiful golden hair. She lit up every room she entered with her joyful spirit and bubbly giggle. She laughed hard and played even harder. Everyone who knew her was better for it. Brooklyn loved horseback riding, arts and crafts, tearing through the mud on her dirt bike and raising and showing her 4-H animals. She swam like a fish, ran like the wind on her Track and Field team and loved spending time with her family. If she had her way she would have eaten only pizza and SUGAR. Though she did NOT like doing the dishes or cleaning her room, she was a master at getting in the last word (or so she thought). Ornery as the day is long, she was a stinker through and through, and we loved every minute of it. She was a part of the Pleasant Outlaws 4-H club where she showed sheep, pigs and enjoyed exhibit hall projects such as fine arts, beekeeping, and of course HORSES. She was an eighth grader at the Switzerland County Middle School where she had more friends than we could begin to count. She had a heart for those who felt forgotten and loved serving others through her church. She threw parties for kids who never felt celebrated and fed the homeless. She was a jewel in the family crown.

Brooklyn, known to many who loved her as “Brookie Cookie” will be dearly missed by her loving parents: Christina Cunning of Flagstaff, AZ, Joe Gosciniak of Vevay, IN & Steve & Janelle Lustig of Vevay, IN. Her parents loved her more than words could ever express and will cherish her sweet spirit always. She was their “fooful” (beautiful) princess; their darling baby girl. She was the spunky, sassy & sweet sister to: Kayla, Marissa, Katie, Andrea & her husband: Travis Scudder, Kyleigh, David, Matthew, Samuel & his wife: Polly, Gabe, Allie & Patrishia; her nieces: Arabella & Rebecca; her nephews: Malachi & Carson; her grandma: Carol Gosciniak; her papaw: Tim Atkins; her grandma: Barb Girdler; her grandpa: Gary Girdler & her grandma: Rose Fletcher, who all adored her and spoiled her rotten (just the way she liked it). She was the beloved niece to: Jordan Gosciniak & his daughter: Chloe, Jake Gosciniak & his wife: Ashley & their sons: Mason, Evan & their daughter: Taylor, Josh Gosciniak & his son: Dion, Justin Gosciniak, Jack Monroe, Bill Monroe, Eddie Monroe & his wife: Chris & their children, Brenda Sceifres & her husband: Mike & their sons: Liam & Bailey, Kim Guerro & her husband: Gilberto & their sons: Thomas, Clemente & Christopher, Lisa Allen & her son: James Allen Sr. & their grandchildren: Bub and Prudence, Paul Lustig & his wife: Laveda, Cecelia Rodman, Betty Head & her husband: Jim & their children: Paula Durbin & her husband: Bob & their children, Joan Hurbst & her husband: Rick & their children, Doris Webb & her husband: Billy & their children, Tammy Motley & her husband: Mick & their children; Harmony Hensley & her husband: Skyler & their son: Ransom, Diane Adamec & her husband: Tom & their daughters: Steph and Jen. Her family will miss her dearly but will continue her legacy of kindness, laughter, service and boundless joy.

Brooklyn was greeted into eternity with open arms by her loving grandpa: Joseph “Joe” Gosciniak; her loving great-grandfather: William Zimmer & her loving aunt: Rebecca Monroe.
