Life Story for Eldric Edward Hazeldean

Eldric Edward  Hazeldean
Mr. Eldric Edward Hazeldean, age 92, of Madison, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on January 8, 1923, in Shiloh, Ohio, the son of the late, Joseph E. & Minnie J. (Schievelbein) Hazeldean. He was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1941 graduate of the Vevay High School. Eldric was inducted into the United States Marine Corps on December 14, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, serving during World War II. Eldric was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal on April 22, 1946. Eldric was united in marriage on February 12, 1947, at the First Reform Church in Rising Sun, Indiana, to Joy Napier and to this union arrived three sons, Eddie, Howard and Jerry and a daughter, Mary Lou to bless this home. Eldric and Joy shared 68 loving years of marriage together until his death. Eldric was a former general maintenance for Coopers Shop in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and was employed in delivery for Granite Brick & Lumber Yard in Rising Sun, Indiana. He was also employed in maintenance for the Markland Dam Locks, for several years. He farmed all of his life in Switzerland County. Eldric was a member of the Switzerland County Farm Bureau and the Markland Baptist Church and after moving to Madison, Indiana in August 2011, he attended the North Madison Baptist Church. Eldric enjoyed gardening, flowers, but most of all, farming. Eldric died at 9:05 am, Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at his residence in Madison, Indiana.

Eldric will be missed by his loving wife of 68 years: Joy (Napier) Hazeldean of Madison, IN; his sons: William "Eddie" Hazeldean & his wife: Elaine of Houston, TX & Eldric Howard Hazeldean & his wife: Julia of Vevay, IN; his daughter: Mary Lou Griffin & her husband: Ronnie of Pleasant, IN; his daughter-in-law: Janice Hazeldean of Vevay, IN; his grandchildren: Kelli Brockman & her husband: Donald of Vevay, IN, Kevin Scudder of Convoy, Ohio, Abbye Hazeldean of Dallas, TX, Joshua Hazeldean & his wife: Megan of Kaneohe, HI & Jillian Hazeldean of San Diego, CA; his great-grandchildren: Bryant, Briann & Carter; his sister: Mildred Schuster of Battle Creek, MI & his several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph E. & Minnie J. (Schievelbein) Hazeldean; his son: Jerome Lee "Jerry" Hazeldean, died July 20, 2011; his granddaughter: Kimberly Ann Hazeldean, died July 11, 1982; his sister: Evelyn Felker, died September 6, 2014; his sister-in-law: Blanche Bennett, died July 18, 2015.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 11:00 am, by Pastor Bobby Brundige Jr., at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, August 7, 2015, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 & the Vevay VFW Post #5396 & the United States Marine Corps Ceremonial Unit at the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Markland Baptist Church or Hospice of King's Daughters' Hospital. Cards are available at the funeral home.
