Life Story for Elizabeth L. Wentworth (Watson)

Elizabeth L.  Wentworth (Watson)
Mrs. Elizabeth L. (Watson) Wentworth, age 99, of Madison, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on February 3, 1916, in Trimble County, Kentucky, the loving daughter of the late, Perry Fulton and Francis Mary (Barnes) Watson. She was raised in Trimble County, Kentucky where she attended school. Elizabeth was united in marriage on January 24, 1932, at the Methodist Parsonage in Bedford, Kentucky, to the late, Marshall Howard Wentworth and to this union arrived three sons, Marshall, Nelson and Shirley to bless their home. Elizabeth and Marshall shared 29 loving years of marriage together until Marshall passed away on January 17, 1961. Elizabeth was a former Switzerland County Recorder for 8 years and she also served as deputy recorder for Switzerland County for 8 years. She was a former Switzerland County Treasurer for 12 years. She was a former cashier and bookkeeper for the state office building in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1966 to 1998. She was a former vault teller for People's Bank in Indianapolis, Indiana for 18 years. She was a member of the Bennington Order of Eastern Star Chapter No.407 for over 50 years. Elizabeth was a former member of the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church in Vevay, Indiana. She was a current member of the First Baptist Church in Madison, Indiana. Elizabeth resided in the Vevay and Madison communities and in the Indianapolis community for 20 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, especially euchre, canasta and bridge. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and her communities. Elizabeth passed away at 5:25 pm, Sunday, November 15, 2015, at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana.

Elizabeth will be missed by her sons: Marshall W. Wentworth & his wife: Marjorie of Madison, IN & Shirley D. Wentworth & his wife: Linda of Pensacola, FL; her grandchildren: Judy Wilkie & her husband: Cecil, Elaine Robinson & her husband: Bob, Mary Ann Harsin & her husband: Vassel, Dean Wentworth & his wife: Becky, Wanda Levendoski, Mark Wentworth, Robin Mayer & her husband: Horst, Matthew Wentworth, Daniel Wentworth & his wife: Ruth, Joel Wentworth & his wife: Katherine, Tamula Smith & her husband: Terry & Timothy Wentworth; her 28-great-grandchildren; her 37-great-great-grandchildren; her 1-great-great-great granddaughter; her sister: Jennie Fowler of Louisville, KY & her several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Perry Fulton & Francis Mary (Barnes) Watson; her husband: Marshall Howard Wentworth, died January 17, 1961; her son: Nelson Allen Wentworth & his wife: Joanne; her grandson: Jeffery Wentworth; her brother: Nathan Watson & his wife: Norma & her sister: Addie L. “Billie” Clapp.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 20, 2015, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Brian Teater at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Eastern Star Services will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the funeral home.
