Life Story for Charles Robert "Charlie" Peters

Charles Robert "Charlie"  Peters
Mr. Charles Robert "Charlie" Peters , age 65, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on August 6, 1950, in Vevay, Indiana, the loving son of the late, Cecil and Jeanette (Coy) Peters. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a 1968 graduate of Vevay High School. Charlie was inducted into the United States Army on April 6, 1970, in Louisville, Kentucky, serving during Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter M-16, Expert M-14 and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Charlie was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on April 1, 1976, at Fort Lewis, Washington. Charlie was united in marriage on March 29, 1985, in Vevay, Indiana, to Vicki Sue Chase and to this union arrived two sons, Christopher and Cody to bless their home. Charlie and Vicki shared 31 loving years of marriage together until his death. Charlie was employed as a Deck Hand for Army Corp of Engineer in Louisville, Kentucky until he became disabled. He worked on a Derrick boat and was a crane operator for the Corp of Engineers. He was also formerly employed for the US Shoe Factory in Madison, Indiana. Charlie resided all of his life in the Switzerland County community. He was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396. He was an avid IU and Bengals fan. Charlie enjoyed fishing, keeping a meticulous lawn and spending time with his sons. Charlie will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Charlie passed away at 10:25 pm, Thursday, March 31, 2016, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Charlie will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 31 years: Vicki Sue (Chase) Peters of Vevay, IN; his sons: Christopher Cheyenne Peters & his wife: Chasity of Vevay, IN & Nicholas Cody Peters of Vevay, IN; his grandchildren: Casyn, Caelynn & Lincoln; his sisters: Karen Miller & her husband: Norman of Vevay, IN & Roberta Konkle & her husband: Jim of Vevay, IN; his sister-in-law: Ingrid Peters of Vevay, IN & his several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Cecil & Jeanette (Coy) Peters; his brother: Harold Wayne Peters, died February 20, 2009; his sister: Louella McCarty, died November 8, 2014; his nephew: Michael Wayne "Mike" McCarty, died June 8, 2015; his niece: Tycia Lynn Sigmon-Martin, died November 2, 2014 & his brother-in-law: Junior McCarty, died August 22, 2011.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at 1:00 pm, by Tracy Nickulis at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vevay American Legion Post #185 Relief Fund or to the Vevay VFW Post #5396 Relief Fund. Cards are available at the funeral home.
