Life Story for Lloyd David "Bud" Brown

Lloyd David "Bud"  Brown
Mr. Lloyd David "Bud" Brown, age 69, of Rising Sun, Indiana, entered this life on September 15, 1946, in Switzerland County, Indiana, the son of the late, Harold Andrew Brown and Etta Lena (Lothridge) Brown-Webster. He was raised in Vevay, Indiana and was a 1965 graduate of Vevay High School. Bud was inducted into the United States Army in 1972 in Louisville, Kentucky. Bud earned the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Attonal Defense Service Medal with 1 bronze star, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze stars, NCO Professional Development Ribbon advance level, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Bars. He also earned the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with PALM/Expert Qualification Badge, M-16 Rifle, Expert Qualification Badge, .45 Cal. Pistol, Marksman Qualification Badge and M9MM Pistol. Bud retired and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant First Class on October 31, 1992 in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Bud was united in marriage on August 17, 2001, in Rising Sun, Indiana, to Susan Jane Barnard. Bud and Susan shared nearly 15 years of marriage together until his death. Bud was a former security officer for Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun, Indiana, retiring after 15+ years of service. He was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 in Vevay, Indiana. Bud resided in the Rising Sun community since 1987. Bud will be remembered for his love of guns, the Ohio River, fishing and his dogs. Bud passed away at 3:50 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2016, at The Water's of Rising Sun in Rising Sun, Indiana.

Bud will be dearly missed by his wife: Susan Jane (Barnard) Brown of Rising Sun, IN; his son: Deric Brown of Denham Springs, LA; his daughter: Heather Brook Short and her husband: Jeffrey of Williamsport, OH; his grandson: William Christopher Short; his step-daughter: Angela Reed of Astoria, OR; his sisters: Phyllis Ann Stafford and her husband: John of Vevay, IN and Linda Sue Pettit of Shelbyville, IN; his brothers: Harold Eugene Brown and his wife: Nancy of Milton, MA and Lawrence Nelson "Doc" Brown and his wife: Evelina of Moorefield, IN; his brother-in-law: James V. Bladen of Vevay, IN and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold Andrew Brown, died November 9, 1976 and Etta Lena (Lothridge) Brown-Webster, died September 10, 2002; his brother: Douglas Brown, died August 27, 1956 and his sister: Lelia Mae Bladen, died January 9, 2002.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at 11:00 am, by Pastor KC Banta, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Full military rites and interment will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 & the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison, Indiana.

Friends may call 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
