Mrs. Janice Lee (Koons) Waltz, age 80, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 30, 1937, in Markland, Indiana, the loving daughter of the late, Lucian and Dorothy (VanOsdol) Koons. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana by her grandparents, Maggie C. and William Edward VanOsdol after the death of her mother. Janice was a 1956 graduate of the Vevay High School. Janice was united in marriage on August 21, 1959, at the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana, by the Rev. Sonny H. Hays, to the late, David Wendell Waltz and to this union arrived a son, James and two daughters, Rita and Shauna to bless their home. Janice and David shared 26 years of marriage together until David passed away on November 4, 1985. Janice was employed for the Vevay Telephone Exchange in the 1960's and later employed for the Purdue Extension Service as a Nutritionist. She was later employed as a real estate agent for Hoosier Hills Reality. Janice was employed as a bailiff for Switzerland County from 1986 to 2002. She was a member of the Bennington Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 407, Associate member of Tri Kappa of Vevay and the Riverview Home Economics Club. Janice was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana and attended the Catholic Church of St. Mark in Virginia Beach, Virginia, when she resided with her son, James. Janice resided most of her life in the Switzerland County community. Janice will be remembered for her love of reading, socializing with her family and friends and baking. Janice will be deeply missed by her loving family and abundance of friends. Janice passed away at 7:00 pm, Saturday, October 14, 2017, at the Sentara Hospice House in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Janice will be deeply missed by her son, James David Waltz and his wife: Janet of Virginia Beach, VA; her daughters, Rita Ann Ross and her husband: Fred of Vevay, IN and Shauna Michelle Andrew and her husband: Billy of Vevay, IN; her grandchildren, Joshua Waltz and his wife: Brittany, Morgan Turner and her husband: Derek, Tanner Ross and his companion: Katie Temple, Katie Hall and her companion: Michael Haas, Jr., Lucian Waltz and his companion: Megan McNier, Mark Hall and his companion: Stephanie Smith, Rachel Waltz and Kailey Wiley; her great-grandchildren, Jameson Waltz and Lincoln Haas; her half-sisters, Barbara Koons and her husband: Jerry of Rising Sun, IN and Kay Bailey and her companion: Arnie Holiday of Rising Sun, IN; her half-brother, Steve Koons and his wife: Patti and her several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucian and Dorothy (VanOsdol) Koons; her step-mother, Beulah Koons-Stephenson; her husband, David Wendell Waltz, died November 4, 1985; her grandparents that raised her,William Edward and Maggie C. VanOsdol.

Bennington Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 407 will conduct services at 7:30 pm, Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the funeral home

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 20, 2017, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Lenny Thorpe, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Caledonia Cemetery, Moorefield, Indiana.
