Life Story for Jean Katherine Dettenwanger

Miss Jean Katherine Dettenwanger, age 75, of Bear Branch, Indiana, entered this life on October 3, 1942, in Cairo, Illinois, the loving daughter of the late, George Francis and Jean Katherine (Patton) Dettenwanger. She was raised in New Carlisle, Ohio and was a 1960 graduate of the Catholic Central High School in Springfield, Ohio. In 1964, Jean received her Bachelor's Degree from Mt. St. Joseph College in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jean received her Master's Degree in Education in 1967 from University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jean was a former Teacher for St. Jude Elementary School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jean retired from the Cincinnati Public Schools in 1997, after 33 years of service. She was a member of the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay, Indiana. Jean was proud of building her log cabin in 1977. Jean enjoyed arts and crafts, reading and sailing on Lake Erie. Jean passed away at 7:53 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2018, at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Jean is survived by her brothers, George Dettenwanger and his wife: Carol of Fairfield, OH and Father Dennis Dettenwanger of Cincinnati, OH; her sister, Judith Ebbeler of Cincinnati, OH and her several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Francis and Jean Katherine (Patton) Dettenwanger.

Funeral Mass will be conducted Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 2:00 pm, by Father Dennis Dettenwanger at the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church, 513 North Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Friends may call 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm, Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
