Mr. George E. Hubert, Jr., age 74, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on October 15, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of the late, George Edmond Hubert, Sr. and Laura Elizabeth (Palama) Hubert. He was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a 1960 graduate of the Francis T. Nicholls High School. George was inducted into the United States Navy on October 17, 1960, in New Orleans, Louisiana, serving during the Vietnam War. He earned the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged with the rank of AME3 on October 16, 1966 at the Naval Reserve Manpower Center. He was employed as a deckhand for Aquatics in New Orleans, Louisiana off the Gulf of Mexico where he laid pipes between structures from 1965 - 1966. He earned his electrician degree from Rets Electronics School in New Orleans, Louisiana. George returned to Rets Electronics School under the VA Program from 1968 - 1969. He was employed in 1969 - 1998 for A.B. Dick Company in New Orleans, Louisiana, Chicago, Illinois, Cleveland, Ohio and San Francisco, California. George and Clara shared 35 loving years together until he passed away. George was a former repairman and technician for Travel Light in South Bend, Indiana, for three years. He was also employed in surveillance for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana, for two years. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Vevay VFW Post #5396 and the Jefferson Post #39 of the American Legion. George enjoyed electronics, computers and his tractors and will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. George passed away at 7:33 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

George is survived by his companion of 35 years, Clare (Collett) Falsey of Vevay, IN; his sons, Darrell George Hubert and his wife: Dainya of Picayune, MS and Daniel Wallace Hubert of Picayune, MS; his four-grandchildren; his step-daughter, Donna McDugall and her husband: John of Highland, MI; his step-grandson; his two-step-great-grandchildren and his brother, Earl Hubert of New Orleans, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Edmond Hubert, Sr. and Laura Elizabeth (Palama) Hubert and his brother, Roland A. Hubert.

Full military rites will be conducted Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 11:00 am, at the Vevay VFW Post #5396, 502 Vineyard Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial Gathering will take place from 10:30 am - 11:00 am Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the Vevay VFW Post #5396, 502 Vineyard Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
