Life Story for Virginia Lee Curry (Cooley)

Virginia Lee Curry (Cooley)
Mrs. Virginia Lee (Cooley) Curry, age 84, of Dillsboro, Indiana, entered this life on September 20, 1933, in Switzerland County, Indiana, the loving daughter of the late, Charles A. Cooley and Marie (Woodruff) Cooley Kittle. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and attended the Vevay High School. Virginia was united in marriage on August 20, 1949, in Carrollton, Kentucky, to the late, Gerald Landon Curry and to this union arrived two daughters, Carolyn Sue and Bonnie Jean and two sons, Allen Douglas and David Leslie to bless their home. Virginia and Gerald shared 48 years of marriage together until he passed away on November 27, 1997. Virginia farmed and raised a large garden where she enjoyed canning and freezing vegetables. She taught Sunday school for many years. Virginia and Gerald were janitors for the Center Square Baptist Church, for 25 years, until Gerald had a stroke. She served in the Parent Teacher Association and went as high as Regional Vice President. She had the opportunity to run for State President of PTA but decided 22 years of involvement was enough. She was employed for the Dearborn County Meat Locker from 1957 to 1958, Britt's Grocery Store and for Rieman's Grocery Store. Virginia owned and operated The Club Sandwich Restaurant in Lawrenceburg, Indiana from 1970 to 1973. She resided on Downey Ridge from 1958 to 2008. Virginia was a former member of the Center Square Baptist Church and a member of the Dillsboro Church of Christ. Virginia and Gerald played Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed scaring the grandchildren with the firework snaps. She also enjoyed traveling, crocheting and reading and will be deeply missed by her family. Virginia passed away at 5:53 p.m., Thursday, August 16, 2018, at the Waters of Dillsboro in Dillsboro, Indiana.
