Mr. John Clarence Iery, age 86, of Bedford, Kentucky, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on October 30, 1925, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, the son of Albert & Ora (Polley) Iery, both of whom preceded him in death. He was united in marriage in Sept. 1966, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, to Anna Marie Wilburn & they enjoyed over 32 years together until her death on May 11, 1999. John was employed with Dravco Construction Company & moved to Switzerland County, Indiana, in the early 1960's, during the construction of the Markland Dam. He helped to construct the power plant & turbine plant at the Dam. He also helped with the construction of the Dam's in West Virginia & Evansville, Indiana. John was employed with the Hilltop Basic Resources in Patriot Indiana, from 1964-1984, retiring after 20 years of service. John attended the Truth Apostolic Church in Vevay, Indiana. John died at 2:58 am Wednesday March 21, 2012, at the Signature Health Care in Bedford, KY.
John will be missed by his sons: James Rider of Patriot, IN; Jack Iery of Bucyrus, OH; Johnny Rider of Florence, IN; Eddie (Kathy) Irey of Birmingham, AL; J.C. Iery Jr. of Vevay, IN; his daughters: JoAnne White of McConnelsville, OH; Joyce (Danny) Hoskins of Carrollton, KY; Jackie (Tom) Wehner of Madison, IN; Barbara (Troy) Chilton of Bedford, KY; Jeannie Beasely of Bucyrus, OH; 24-grandchildren & several great-grandchildren; 1-sister: Dorothy Chaney of Columbus, OH; several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Albert & Ora (Polley) Iery; his wife: Anna (Wilburn) Iery; his brothers: Charlie Iery & James Iery; his sisters: Alma Looney, Gladys Lawson, Beulah Allgood & Lena Wells.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 23, 2012, at 11:00 AM, by Bro. Anthony Wilks at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery, Patriot, Indiana.
