Life Story for Robert Leland "Doc" LeClerc

Robert Leland "Doc"  LeClerc
Mr. Robert "Doc" Leland LeClerc, age 92, of Indianapolis, Indiana, entered this life on March 25, 1926, in Aurora, Indiana. He was the son of the late, Jesse A. and Nell M. (Garrett) LeClerc. He was raised in Mt. Sterling, Indiana and was a 1944 graduate of the Vevay High School. Doc was inducted into the United States Army on November 30, 1943, in Fort Harrison, Indiana, serving during World War II. Doc earned the American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Doc was honorably discharged with the rank of Private on November 4, 1945, in Scott Field, Illinois. Doc was united in marriage on April 28, 1947, in Vevay, Indiana, to Dora Eleanor Buchanan. This happy union was blessed for a son, Robert. Doc and Eleanor shared over 71 years of marriage together until his death. Doc was employed as the secretary and manager for Farmers Mutual Insurance Company in Indianapolis, Indiana, retiring after 16 years of service. He was employed as a claims adjuster for Meridian Mutual Insurance Company in Indianapolis, Indiana, for 16 years and for Enterprise Rent a Car in Indianapolis, Indiana, for 16 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 107 in Franklin, Indiana and the Indianapolis American Legion Post #0777. He was a member of the West Newton United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Doc enjoyed golfing and fishing and will be deeply missed by his loving family. Doc passed away at 12:48 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2018, at the Magnolia Springs SouthPointe Senior Living Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Doc is survived by his loving wife, Dora Eleanor (Buchanan) LeClerc of Indianapolis, IN; his son, Robert Wayne LeClerc and his wife: Pearl of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren, Bobby, Brian and Nathan LeClerc; his great-grandchildren, Robby, Jared, Janey, Bryan, Christopher and Drystan LeClerc; his sister-in-law, Helen McClure and her husband: Mike of Madison, IN and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse A. LeClerc, died October 19, 1963 and Nell M. (Garrett) LeClerc, died February 6, 1989; his sister, Geraldine Fisher; his sister-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Smock and his brothers-in-law, Basil and Dale Buchanan.

Graveside Services will be conducted Monday, August 27, 2018, at 2:00 pm, at the Pleasant Cemetery, Pleasant, Indiana.

Friends may call 1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m., Monday, August 27, 2018, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
