Life Story for Kenneth D. "Kenny" May

Kenneth D. "Kenny"  May
Mr. Kenneth D. "Kenny" May, age 92, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 10, 1925 in Pleasureville, Kentucky, the son of the late, Thomas Benton, Sr. and Mabel (Welch) May. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he attended school. Kenny was inducted into the United States Army on October 2, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, serving during World War II. He earned the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. Kenny was honorably discharged with the rank of Technician 5th Class on November 17, 1946, in Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Kenny was employed for the Jefferson Proving Ground in Madison, Indiana, for 20 years and as a truck driver for Fisher & Arnold in Falmouth, Kentucky, for 7 years. He was a member of the Switzerland County Antique Tractors Club and a former member of the Vevay VFW Post #5396. Kenny resided in the Switzerland County community most of his life. Kenny enjoyed farming, John Deere Tractors and keeping a meticulous home and lawn. Kenny passed away at 12:45 am, Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at his residence in Vevay, Indiana.

Kenny is survived by his sons, Larry May and his wife: Judy of Madison, IN and Reno May and his wife: Kathy of Pleasant, IN; his daughter, Janice Smith and her husband: Ronald of Madison, IN; his grandchildren, Shasta Hunter, Shane May, Matthew May, Clint May, Chancey Tyler May, Justin Smith, Jason Smith, Joshua Smith and Mark May; his great-grandchildren, Luke, Kyndel, Waylon, Braylen, Hayden, Jayden, Mason, Issy, Kayla, Gabriella, Chancey Joseph, Zachary, Allena, Ethan, Jerzie, Lane, Camden and Addilyn; his 11-step-great-grandchildren; his 2-great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Carlos May and his wife: Charlotte of Dupont, IN; his sisters, Mary Jane Fuller of Versailles, IN and Thelma Eve of Lexington, KY and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Benton May, Sr., died April 23, 1978 and Mabel (Welch) May, died April 2, 1986; his wife of 65 years, Evalee B. (Martin) May, died October 7, 2013; his son, Roger Allen "Rog" May, died May 16, 2004; his infant-twin-brother, Henry May; his brothers, Leslie Elston "Jethro" May, died May 1, 2004, James Thurston May, Sr., died April 2, 2008, Bennie Carroll May, died June 6, 2009 and Thomas Benton "Tommy" May, Jr., died October 31, 2015; his sister, Evelyn Willhoite, died May 29, 2008; his nephew, Clayton Gregory "Greg" Bear, died January 20, 2010 and infant nephew and his nieces, Rebecca Charlotte "Becky" Gregory, died September 2, 2008 and Kerrie G. Kuntz-Mendoza, died October 11, 2017.

Friends may call 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 29, 2017, at 1:00 pm, by Rev. Ron Lee, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment and full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Keeping Pace Cancer Fund % CFSCI. Cards are available at the funeral home.
