Obituary for Annette Cutter (Combs)

Mrs. Annette (Combs) Cutter, age 84, of Dillsboro, Indiana, born at home on October 3, 1936 in Glomawr, Kentucky. She was the youngest of five children born to Allen and Spicia (Begley) Combs. The family moved to Indiana in 1942. Annette attended Guilford School in the first grade, then Central Elementary in Lawrenceburg, Indiana for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. Homestead School for the 5th and 6th grades. Greendale School for the 7th and 8th. Then to Lawrenceburg Consolidated High School for four years, graduating in 1955. Annette was baptized in the Lawrenceburg Church of Christ in 1954. Rev. Arnold John Cutter was drafted into the army in August 1952. Upon arriving home Arnold saw his wife to be, Annette Combs for the first time in person. Many letters and pictures had been exchanged during the past 18 to 20 months. Annette and Arnold was united in marriage on June 11, 1955 at the Lawrenceburg Church of Christ in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. They made their home on a farm near Fairview, Indiana, where Arnold was engaged in farming with his family. They were blessed with three children to make their home complete, Ronald Allen, Bonnie Ann and Joy Lee. Annette learned to help with the farm work. She was always interested in the kids schools. Annette was active in P.T.A. and P.T.O. and served several years as a room mother and Cub Scout den mother, and chaperoned many school trips and outings with Band and Choir. She loved to decorate cakes, and even taught at the Vocational School in Versailles, Indiana for a couple years. She also worked for a florist for about two years, which she enjoyed very much. When Arnold went into the ministry, she was his office worker and helper and also served as a Sunday School teacher. In 1990, Arnold and Annette were moved to Ogilville and Ohio Chapel Churches in Bartholomew County, outside of Columbus, Indiana. They had served several small churches in Switzerland County, Indiana for 16 years, so moving brought a big change. In 1996, they retired from full time ministry and bought a home in Dillsboro, Indiana. They were still involved with the ministry, though now part time. When the children grew up, married and had children, Annette adored her grandchildren and loved to keep them and have them visit. Annette's first job was as a secretary for Distillers Cooperage in Lawrenceburg, Indiana during her second semester of her senior year of high school. After she was married, she worked a couple weeks at the tomato canning factory in Rising Sun, Indiana. Annette left that job to go to work for attorney, Gretchen H. Cole in Vevay, Indiana. She left that job shortly before the birth of her first child, Ronald. Annette was a stay at home mom, to take care of the children and help on the farm, later to help with the church responsibilities for Arnold. In 2005, she had surgery on her spine, that didn't go very well. She was not physically able to do all the things she had done before and this was a big disappointment for her. Arnold and Annette started an ice cream social at the Fairview United Methodist Church. In 2017, they celebrated 50 years. Arnold and Annette were some of the first EMT’s in Switzerland County. Annette passed away at 11:55 p.m., Friday, May 21, 2021, at Ripley Crossing in Milan, Indiana.
