Mr. Arthur Leroy Stoops, age 84, of East Enterprise, Indiana, entered this life on April 5, 1938 in Florence, Indiana. He was the son of the late, Robert and Helen (Kelly) Stoops. Arthur was raised in Switzerland County where he attended school. On March5, 1977, Arthur was united in marriage to Ruth Sharon McClure in Rising Sun, Indiana. Arthur and Ruth shared over 42 years of marriage together until her passing on May 18, 2019. Arthur was employed as a tunnel operator for Hilltop Basic Resources in Patriot, Indiana and retired after 32 years of service. He enjoyed farming and was a member of the Florence Church of Christ. Arthur passed away at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2023, at The Water's of Rising Sun in Rising Sun, Indiana.

Arthur is survived by his sons, Arthur Wayne Stoops and his wife, Denia of Carrollton, KY and Anthony Stoops of Moores Hill, IN; his step-daughters, Debbie Gulley and her companion, John Melton of Rising Sun, IN and Patty Hammons of Madison, IN; his step-sons, Doug and Jim Hammons of Madison, IN; his grandchildren, Christin Lewellyn and her husband, Garvin and Tess Hedge and her husband, Tyler; his great-grandchildren, Mia and Carter Lewellyn; his step-grandchildren, Carolyn Moore and Tabitha Bowlds and other beloved family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Kelly) Stoops; his wife, Ruth Sharon (McClure) Stoops; his infant brothers and his sister, Alberta Turner.

Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Graveside Services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2023, by Rev. Mike Jones, in the New Liberty Cemetery, East Enterprise, Indiana.
