Obituary for Bernard Clyde Hartley

Mr. Bernard Clyde Hartley, age 69, of Charlestown, Indiana, formerly of Cross Plains, Indiana, entered this life on December 27, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late Charles Alfred and Emme Lou (McKay) Hartley. He was raised in Louisville, Kentucky where he was a 1969 graduate of Butler High School. He was employed for General Electric in Louisville, Kentucky for several years. Bernard was a driver for the Madison State Hospital in Madison, Indiana until he became disabled after 13 years of service. He was a member of the Cross Plains Baptist Church and resided in the Cross Plains community for over 30 years until he moved to the Charlestown, Indiana community in 2015. Bernard was an avid New York Yankees and Wildcats fan and enjoyed working on computers, playing poker and spending time with his grandchildren. Bernard passed away at 7:23 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2020, at the Clark Memorial Health in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Bernard will be missed by his son, Craig Hartley and his wife, Jessica of Cross Plains, IN; his daughter, Alisha Hartley and her companion, Jerry Hoskins of Patriot, IN; his grandchildren, Kynnadi, Chazz, Braxton, Aillan, Ian, Erin and Emily; his brothers, Bro. Cliff Hartley and his wife, Karen of Canaan, IN and David Hartley and his wife, Vicki of Springfield, OH; his sisters, Kathryn Miller and her husband, Joe of Newton, Texas and Patty O'Hara and her husband, Leo of Jeffersonville, IN and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Alfred Hartley, died September 17, 1990 and Emme Lou (McKay) Hartley, died August 22, 2012 and his son, Bernard Charles "Chuck" Hartley, died July 13, 2011.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 28, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Joe Miller at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Cross Plains Baptist Cemetery in Cross Plains, Indiana
