Obituary for Clarabell Crandell (Brown)
Mrs. Clarabell (Brown) Crandell, age 98, of Moorefield, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville, Indiana. She entered this life on August 25, 1923 in Switzerland County, Indiana. Clarabell was the loving daughter of the late Thomas Emory Brown and Prudie (Todd) Brown Poore. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where she was a 1942 graduate of the Vevay High School. Clarabell was united in marriage to Carl Scott Crandell on January 14, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky. This happy union was blessed with two sons, Arthur and Glenn. Clarabell and Carl shared over 53 years of marriage together until he passed away on July 11, 1997. Clarabell was employed at Maw Burnett's Diner on Main Street in Vevay, Indiana. She was later employed as a file clerk for Union Title Company in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1952-1963. She became a licensed agent and owned and operated with her husband C.S. Crandell Insurance Agency in Moorefield, Indiana from 1963-1985. Clarabell was a dedicated 50 year member and held various offices of the Bennington Order of Eastern Star Chapter #407. She was a member of the Long Run Baptist Church near Moorefield, Indiana. She was also a former member of the Moorefield Home Economics Club that she enjoyed. Clarabell loved her Lord and Savior and served the Lord in all that she did. She loved attending church and women's missionary.
Clarabell will be missed by her sons, Arthur "Art" Crandell and his wife, Debbie of Versailles, IN and Glenn Crandell of Moorefield, IN; her grandchildren, Rachel Evans (Josh) and Levi Crandell (Christian); her great-grandchildren, Layla, Blair, Josiah, Mercy, Michael, Abraham, Ezra and Grace and her several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Emory Brown and Prudie (Todd) Brown Poore; her husband, Carl Scott Crandell; her sister, Grace Elizabeth Brown; her brothers, Carl T. Brown, Robert E. Brown and Fred W. Brown; her niece, Sharon Brown; her step-father, Joshua Gabriel Poore and her step-sister, Clara Frances Burroughs.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services and Bennington Order of Eastern Star Chapter #407 will conduct services on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., by Pastor Matt Bruns and Pastor Casey Banta, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Caledonia Cemetery near Moorefield, Indiana.
