Life Story for Corene Mae "Sissy" Smith
Ms. Corene Mae "Sissy" Smith, age 71, of Rising Sun, Indiana, formerly of Switzerland County, Indiana, entered this life on April 6, 1948, in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, Harold R. "Pete" and Pruda M. (Remer) Smith. She was raised in Patriot, Indiana where she attended the Patriot High School. Sissy was a former member of the Patriot Church of Christ where she was baptized in 1958. Sissy was employed for the Ogle Haus and Swiss Inn in Vevay, Indiana and was a wonderful caregiver to her mother, Pruda for several years. Sissy will be lovingly remembered for her love of sewing, crafts, animals, gardening and attending yard sales. Sissy passed away at 3:10 a.m., Sunday, July 21, 2019, at The Waters of Rising Sun in Rising Sun, Indiana.
Sissy will be deeply missed by her sisters, Martha "Libby" Smith and her husband, Charles of Rising Sun, IN and Tina Sandlin and her husband, James of Pleasant, IN; her nephews, Troy Smith and his wife, Becky of Florence, IN and Tommy Springer of Vevay, IN; her nieces, Susan Crouse and her companion, Andy Briede of Taylorsville, KY and Tonya Springer and her companion, Brandon Huitt of East Enterprise, IN; her great-nephews and niece, Billy Crouse, Joey Crouse, Michael Ellis, Angela Staggs and Ashton Huitt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold R. "Pete" Smith, died December 15, 1996 and Pruda M. (Remer) Smith, died January 24, 2015; her brothers, Danny L. Smith, died September 9, 2002 and Harold A. "Bubby" Smith, died February 7, 2012; her sister, Linda Faye "Winnie" (Smith) Ellis, died August 28, 2013 and her nephew, Josh Smith, died January 7, 1987.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 26, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Patriot, Indiana.
