Obituary for Darrell Wayne Brown

Mr. Darrell Wayne Brown, age 78, of Dillsboro, Indiana, formerly of Switzerland County, Indiana, passed away at 11:10 a.m., Tuesday February 11, 2020, at the Waters of Batesville in Batesville, Indiana. He entered this life on December 6, 1941 in Switzerland County, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Clarence Brown, Sr. and Bernice (McKenzie) Brown. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and attended Vevay High School. Darrell was inducted into the United States Army on March 5, 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class on April 18, 1962 in Fort Knox, Kentucky. In 1967, Darrell was employed for Schenley Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana until 1988, retiring after 21 years of service. Darrell was united in marriage in 1969 in Vevay, Indiana to Carolyn for 18 years. He was formerly employed for Duro Bag Manufacturing Company in Richwood, Kentucky for five years and in Covington, Kentucky for almost two years. Darrell was also formerly employed for the Switzerland County Courthouse for four years and for Reliance Electric Company in Madison, Indiana for six years. He was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396. Darrell's greatest joy was painting and shooting pool.

Darrell is survived by his son, Darren Wayne Brown of Dillsboro, IN; his sisters, Janice Ramsey of Vevay, IN, Betty Callahan of Meansville, GA and Lolita Bolden and her husband, Skip of Tallahassee, FL; his brother, Keith Brown and his wife, Bonnie of Seattle, WA and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Brown, Sr. and Bernice (McKenzie) Brown; his sisters, Virginia Burton, Mary Magness and Sandra Faye Lanham and his brothers, Charles Everett, Robert L. "Bobby", Clarence, Jr., Kenneth and Glenver "Jack" Brown.

Friends may call 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2020, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 14, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043. Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at a later date in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
