Life Story for Deanna Macrander (Scott)

Mrs. Deanna (Scott) Macrander, age 74, of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on October 12, 1944, in Vevay, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, William Denton and Loretta (Peelman) Scott. At age 8, she and her family moved to California. By age 14 she could play the piano, organ, and bass. At age 17, she formed her own band called the Stardusters. She was the youngest woman to become a band leader. Deanna and her band had the opportunity to perform with and play backup for many talented artists such as Tex Ritter, Little Jimmy Dickens, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Elvis Presley and many others for over 30 years. She will always be grateful to Freddie Hart for helping her get started in the music industry. She was a 1963 graduate of the Kerman High School in Kerman, California. Deanna returned back to Vevay, Indiana with her parents where she met Ivan Earl Macrander. They were united in marriage on February 14, 1981, in Vevay, Indiana. Deanna and Ivan shared 32 years of marriage together until he passed away on September 6, 2013. Deanna was a member of the Vevay Church of Christ and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in California. Ivan and Deanna resided in the Louisville, Kentucky community from 1986 - 1996, in the Ramsey, Indiana community, in 1996 and resided since 2006 in the Hanover, Indiana community. Deanna was an avid reader and played the piano occasionally. She enjoyed watching FOX News, Hallmark and Inspiration channels. Deanna passed away at 9:30 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2019, at the Hanover Nursing Center in Hanover, Indiana.

Deanna will be missed by her sons, Mike Macrander and his wife: Connie of Lexington, IN and Gayle Macrander and his wife: Kay of Brooksburg, IN; her grandchildren, Carroll Wayne Macrander, Vanetta Pike and Steve Wolf; her great-grandchildren, Carol Ann Macrander-Stakelin, Zane Bennett and Bradly and Dylan Wolf; her great-great-.granddaughter, Maddie Stakelin and several cousins. She will be missed by her two cats, Snowball and Lucy, who have been her companions for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Denton and Loretta (Peelman) Scott and her husband, Ivan Earl Macrander.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2019, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
