Obituary for Dora Eleanor LeClerc (Buchanan)
Mrs. Dora Eleanor (Buchanan) LeClerc, age 90, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on December 22, 1930 in Pleasant, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, Mort and Ida (Griswold) Buchanan. She was raised in Pleasant, Indiana and was a 1947 graduate of the Vevay High School. Eleanor was united in marriage on April 28, 1947 in Vevay, Indiana to the late, Robert "Doc" Leland LeClerc. This happy union was blessed with a son, Robert Wayne "Bob" LeClerc. Eleanor and Doc enjoyed attending car races all over the state of Indiana. They shared over 71 years of marriage together until he passed away on August 23, 2018. Eleanor was a former waitress for Block's Tea Room in Indianapolis, Indiana for 14 years. She was also a former waitress for Winding River Golf Course in Indianapolis, Indiana for nine years. She was a member of the West Newton United Methodist Church in West Newton, Indiana. She resided in the Indianapolis community with her family since 1956. Eleanor will be remembered for her love of playing bingo and cards. Eleanor passed away at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the Magnolia Springs SouthPointe Senior Living Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Eleanor's life will be cherished by her son, Robert Wayne "Bob" LeClerc and his wife, Pearl of Indianapolis, IN; her grandsons, Bobby LeClerc and his companion, Ellen Wilson, Brian LeClerc and Nathan LeClerc and his wife, Jennifer; her great-grandchildren, Robby, Jared, Janey, Bryan, Christopher, Drystan and Alaura; her sister, Helen McClure and her husband, Mike of Madison, IN and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mort Buchanan, died December 23, 1967; her mother, Ida (Griswold) Buchanan, died July 24, 1992; her husband, Robert "Doc" Leland LeClerc, died August 23, 2018; her sister, Margaret "Peggy" Smock, died April 16, 1996 and her brothers, Basil and Dale Buchanan, died June 8, 1947.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021, in the Pleasant Cemetery in Pleasant, Indiana.
