Obituary for Edna Ruth Turner (Ledbetter)

Ms. Edna Ruth (Ledbetter) Turner, age 66, of Rising Sun, Indiana, entered this life on May 24, 1953 in Crossville, Tennessee. She was the loving daughter of the late Kenneth Gary Ledbetter and Josephine Mary Jane (Rodgers) Ledbetter-Melton. She was raised in Crossville, Tennessee and attended school in Patriot, Indiana. Edna was united in marriage on November 21, 1970 in Patriot, Indiana to Fred A. "Freddie" Turner. This happy union was blessed with two daughters, Jennie and Susie and two sons, Johnny and Darrin. Edna was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, for several years. She attended the Grant's Creek Baptist Church near Rising Sun, Indiana. Edna was always proud that she wrote and recorded a song called, Fourteen Roses. Edna was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed sewing, watching Racheal Ray shows and Judge Judy, bird watching, reading and gardening. She also enjoyed listening to gospel and country music. Edna passed away with her loving family by her side at 3:40 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at her residence.

Edna will be missed by her daughters, Jennie Turner of Rising Sun, IN and Susie Turner of Rising Sun, IN; her son, Johnny Turner of Vevay, IN; her grandchildren, Heather Turner, Meranda Turner, Darrin Wayne Turner, Jr., Mary Ann Dole and her husband, Jason, and Lily McFadden; her great-grandchildren, Hayden, Nevaeh, Annelise and Eleanor; her sisters, Kathy Turner and her husband, Wayne of Patriot, IN, Anna Smith of Madison, IN, Carrie Lynn of Madison, IN, Karen Sue Mahoney of Madison, IN, Ethel Jo Reed of Madison, IN and Tina M. Ledbetter of Scottsburg, IN; her brothers, Kenneth O. Ledbetter of Madison, IN and Robert G. Ledbetter of Madison, IN and her numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her parents, Kenneth Gray Ledbetter and Josephine Mary Jane (Rodgers) Ledbetter-Melton; her step-father, Charlie Melton; her ex-husband, Fred A. "Freddie" Turner; her son, Darrin Wayne Turner; her grandson, Spencer William Turner; her sister, Barbara Marie Young and her brother, Charles Albert Ledbetter.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., by Rev. Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Patriot, Indiana.
