Obituary for Edwina Rose "Winnie" Embry (Woolums)

Mrs. Edwina "Winnie" (Woolums) Embry, age 78, of Florence, Indiana, entered this life on June 28, 1942 in Owen County, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of the late Orman and Mary Blanche (Hopper) Woolums. Winnie was raised in Vevay, Indiana where she attended the Switzerland County High School. Winnie was united in marriage on June 13, 1986 in Jefferson County, Kentucky to Harold J. Embry. Winnie and Harold shared over 34 years of marriage together until her death. Winnie was employed as a security guard and receptionist for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana for several years. She owned and operated with her husband the restaurant at the VFW Post #1969 in Madison, Indiana for four years. Winnie was a member of the Center Square Church of Christ in Center Square, Indiana. She enjoyed attending yard sales, fishing, sleeping and gambling. Winnie passed away at 12:56 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at her residence.

Winnie will be deeply missed by her husband, Harold J. Embry of Florence, IN; her daughter, Wendi Jo Staudenheimer and her husband, Ed of Carrollton, KY; her son, Charles E. Harvey, Jr. and his wife, Heather Jo of Loretto, KY; her grandchildren, Krista Castle, Jessica Richards, Tyler Harvey, Andrew Harvey, Cole Harvey, Alec Castle, Dylan Castle, Logan Joseph, Mason Castle, Jacob Edwards, Christopher Lee, Erica Fritz and Lexie Castle; her great-grandchildren, Braeden, Stanley, Dion, Owen, Isabella, Jaxton, Dalton and Jacob; her brother, Rick Woolums and his wife, Kathy of Vevay, IN; her sister, Roberta Scudder of Vevay, IN and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orman Woolums, died Janary 28, 1988 and Mary Blanche (Hopper) Woolums, died November 25, 2003; her son, Christopher Joseph Castle, died October 11, 2015 and her sister, Anna Mae Works-Furnish, died July 5, 2014.

Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery, East Enterprise, Indiana.

Private family services are being held.
