Obituary for Emma Marilyn Leap (Blodgett)

Mrs. Emma Marilyn (Blodgett) Leap, age 84, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on July 17, 1937, in Madison, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Louis Dawson and Vera Mae (Prickett) Blodgett. Emma was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where she was a 1955 graduate of the Vevay High School. Emma was united in marriage to Andrew Jackson Leap on October 16, 1976 in Vevay, Indiana. This happy union was blessed with a son, Andrew David Leap. In 1977, they moved to San Diego, California where they resided until moving back to the Switzerland County community. Emma and Andrew shared nearly 23 years of marriage together until he passed away on August 17, 1999. In 1977. Emma was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, retiring after 23 years of service. She was later employed as a teacher's aide for the Switzerland County School Corporation, retiring in 2015 after 27 years of service. She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church in Fairview, Indiana. She was an avid 4-H leader for many years in Switzerland County. She enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Cincinnati Reds, as well as, bird watching and spending time with her grandson and great-grandchildren. Emma loved her morning coffee with her neighbors. Emma passed away at 10:50 p.m., Sunday, October 17, 2021, at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville, Indiana.

Emma's life will be cherished by her son, Andrew David "Andy" Leap and his wife, Karen of Metamora, IN; her grandson, Ricky Holland and his wife, Kelly of Metamora, IN; her great-grandchildren, John, Daniel, Rayleigh, Alayna and Eliza; her brother, Charles Blodgett and his wife, Lois of Greendale, IN; her sister, Dorothy Wiley and her husband, Elijah of Jasper, IN and her nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Dawson and Vera Mae (Prickett) Blodgett; her step-mother, Opal R. (Washer) Buchanan Blodgett; her husband, Andrew Jackson Leap; her great-grandchildren, Skylar and Kaydence Holland and her best friend, Nancy Turner.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2021. by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
