Obituary for Evelyn M. Gullion Smith (Scudder)
Mrs. Evelyn M. (Scudder) Gullion Smith, age 83, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on February 24, 1938 in Ohio County, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Ezra E. "Jack" Scudder and Mary Elizabeth (Bailey) Scudder Reynolds. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and graduated from the South Ripley High School. Evelyn was united in marriage on July 5, 1957 to George Elmer "Buddy" Gullion. This happy union was blessed with seven children. Evelyn and George shared 22 years of marriage together until he passed away on January 12, 1979. She was a former qualified medication aide for Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana, retiring after 18 years of service. She was also a private caregiver for several years. Evelyn was a wonderful homemaker and loved spending quality time with her family. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, reading, singing, crocheting, attending yard sales, puzzles and word search puzzles. She also enjoyed writing in her journals, as well as, writing poems and quotes. Evelyn loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Evelyn passed away at 1:09 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
Evelyn will be missed by her children, Mary Evelyn Pohlman of Vevay, IN, Wayne Gullion of Carroll County, KY, Georgia Ann Richards and her husband, Troy of Vevay, IN and Karen Marie Peelman and her husband, Louis of East Enterprise, IN; her several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Roberta Barton of Vevay, IN and Donna Mae Edwards of Madison, IN; her brothers, Harold Scudder and his wife, Donna of Homer, MI, Richard "Rick" Scudder of Vevay, IN and Carroll David Scudder and his wife, Cheryl of Vevay, IN and her several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra E. "Jack" Scudder and Mary Elizabeth (Bailey) Scudder Reynolds; her 1st husband, George Elmer Gullion; her 2nd husband, Manford Hayes "Buck" Smith; her daughters, Teresa Lynn Gullion and Velma Mae Gullion; her son, William Dale "Bill" Gullion; her grandchildren, Billy Gullion and Tina Marie Begley; her great-grandson, Shawn Colen; her great-great-grandchildren, Paxton Gullion and Kyler Browning; her brothers, Donald Wayne Scudder, Bud Scudder and Ronald "Cappy" Scudder; her infant sister, Leona Scudder and her step-son, Robert Nim "Robbie" Smith.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
