Obituary for Florence M. Wilson Haskell (Smith)

Mrs. Florence M. (Smith) Wilson Haskell, age 98, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on April 20, 1922 in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Albert Uley and Alice (Copeland) Smith. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where she attended school. Florence was united in marriage to Woodrow Wilson on May 22, 1939. Florence and Woodrow shared 39 years of marriage together until he passed away on April 1, 1978. She was later united in marriage to Herbert Ward "Hosey" Haskell on August 6, 1994 and they shared six years of marriage together until he passed away on September 9, 2000. Florence was a former employee for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana for 30 years. She was later employed as a chef for the Ogle Haus for four years and as a cook for Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana for eight years. Florence was a former member of the Hope Rebekah Lodge #851 of Bennington, Indiana and the Center Square Home Economics Club. She was a member of the Mt. Sterling Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling, Indiana. Florence passed away at 1:45 p.m., Thursday, December 24, 2020, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Florence will be missed by her daughter, Mary Katherine Ray and her husband, Ronnie of Vevay, IN; her brother, Roy Lee Smith and his wife, Marilyn of Canaan, IN and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Woodrow Wilson and Herbert Ward "Hosey" Haskell; her sons, Charles "Shorty" and Marion Wilson; her parents, Albert Uley and Alice (Copeland) Smith; her brothers, Robert P. Smith, Morgan Smith, Raymond Smith, James E. Smith and Lawrence Smith and her sisters, Lottie Webster, Jannetta McComas, and Martha Jean "Jeannie" Wentworth.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required along with social distancing. Due to COVID-19 private immediate family only services are being held on Monday, December 28, 2020.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
