Life Story for Flossie E. Lock (Woodruff)
Mrs. Flossie E. (Woodruff) Lock, age 104, of Columbus, Indiana, formerly of Switzerland County, Indiana, was born October 6, 1914 in the family home in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was the first of ten children of Thurman and Lela (Webster) Woodruff. She married Chester "Chet" Lock June 29, 1932, in Vevay, Indiana. Flossie and Chet had two daughters Mary Elizabeth Krall (deceased) and Betty Christman of Columbus, Indiana. Flossie was a member of Fredonia Baptist Church for 35 years, which was near the family farm, "The Old Lock Farm" on Tapp's Ridge near Vevay, Indiana. After leaving the farm they moved to Madison, Indiana. Flossie worked and retired from the Madison State Hospital after 20 years of service. In 1995 Flossie and Chet moved to Columbus, Indiana. After Chet's death in 2003, Flossie joined the Quilts of Valor in 2005. She made quilts for wounded soldiers which she continued for 10 years. Flossie sold her home in 2014 and moved to her daughter's home where she remained. She deeply loved her family and faithful friends were priceless to her. She always tried to see the bright side and tried to encourage everyone. Flossie passed away at 1:37 p.m., Monday, April 8, 2019, at her residence.
Survivors, her daughter, Betty Christman of Columbus, IN; her grandchildren, Kenneth (Linda) Krall of Osgood, IN, Terry (Diane) Krall of Carmel, IN, Michael Krall of Osgood, IN, Susan (Terry) Grammer of Columbus, IN, Bob (Shari) Christman of Columbus, IN, Sharon (Jerry) Wilson of Columbus, IN, Bridgett Guard of IN; her 15 great-grandchildren; her 19-great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Falba Bradley of Rising Sun, IN; her brother, Leonidas "Bud" Woodruff of Aurora, IN and her son-in-law, Norris Krall of Osgood, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter; her son-in-law, Larry Christman; her 2-brothers and her 4-sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 15, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Wayne Daugherty at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
