Obituary for Helen Dean Parks (Burnett)
Mrs. Helen Dean (Burnett) Parks, age 80, of Bennington, Indiana, entered this life on August 10, 1941 in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Raymond J. and Martha R. (Andrew) Burnett. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a 1959 graduate of the Vevay High School. Helen received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in elementary education from Georgetown College in 1963. Helen was united in marriage on June 6, 1964 at the Mt. Sterling Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling, Indiana to Willis Gene Parks. This happy union was blessed with two children, Laura and Richard. Helen and Gene shared over 57 years of marriage together. Helen was a former teacher for the Switzerland County School Corporation for 30 years. She also taught in Lawrenceburg and Rising Sun, Indiana and Norwood, Ohio for a few years. Helen was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash and was a member of the Eggleston Club, Switzerland County Retired Teachers Association and the Switzerland County Home Economics Club. She was a board member of the Switzerland County Historical Society and was very passionate about history. Helen was a past board member of the Community Foundation of Switzerland County. She was a faithful member of the Center Square Baptist Church in Center Square, Indiana. Helen enjoyed reading, volunteer work and story telling. Helen passed away at 9:18 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Helen will be missed by her husband, Willis Gene Parks of Bennington, IN; her daughter, Laura Gibson and her husband, David of Vevay, IN; her son, Richard Parks of East Enterprise, IN; her brothers, Harold Wayne Burnett of Scipio, IN and Everett Burnett and his wife, Lois of Vevay, IN and her several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond J. and Martha R. (Andrew) Burnett and her sister-in-law, Gerri Burnett.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
