Obituary for Ivan Eugene "Gene" Abrams
Mr. Ivan Eugene "Gene" Abrams, age 78, of Switzerland County, Indiana, entered this life on June 4, 1943 in Greensburg, Indiana. He was born to the parents of, Ulysses Grant and Katherine Marie (Stanley) Abrams, both of whom preceded him in passing. He was raised in Milroy, Indiana and graduated from Milroy High School in 1962. Gene was united in marriage on August 3, 1998 in Vevay, Indiana to Lillie Jane Boyce. This happy blended family was blessed with nine children. Gene worked for eight years as a heavy equipment operator for Hilltop Basic Resources in Patriot, Indiana. He was also employed for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana for a few years. Gene also worked for several years as a crane operator for Phoenix at Nucor in Ghent, Kentucky. Gene resided in the Switzerland County community since 1992. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Lamb, Indiana and was a former member of the Milroy Christian Church in Milroy, Indiana. Gene enjoyed horseback riding, trail riding, training, breeding and raising horses, as well as, camping, raising cattle and spending quality time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene led a full and fun life and loved his friends and especially his family with his whole heart. Gene passed away surrounded by his loving family at 5:58 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2022, at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
Gene will be remembered by his wife, Lillie Jane (Boyce) Abrams of Switzerland County, IN; his daughters, Tammy Marie Best and her husband, J.D. of Versailles, IN and Holly June Taylor and her husband, Brandon of Vevay, IN; his sons, Bradley Eugene Abrams and his wife, Patty of Beanblossom, IN, Paul Lee Abrams and his wife, Jessica of Vevay, IN and Michael Ambrose Abrams and his wife, Kayla of Morristown, IN; his step-daughter, Shannan Brogan and her husband, Danny of Vevay, IN; his step-sons, Larry "Tex" Scudder and his wife, Teresa of Clarksburg, IN and James "Bo" Scudder of West Plains, MO; his daughter-in-law, Ellen Scudder of St. Paul, IN; his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, John Abrams and his wife, Barbara of Rushville, IN; his sister-in-law, Lisa Abrams of Milroy, IN and his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Wayne Scudder, died January 15, 2022; his parents, Ulysses Grant and Katherine Marie (Stanley) Abrams; his sister, Thelma Brown and his brothers, Charles Abrams, Keith Gilmore, Tom Abrams and Steven Gilmore.
