Obituary for Janet Marie Turner (Niccum)

Mrs. Janet M. (Niccum) Turner, age 71, of Vevay, Indiana, passed away at 9:59 p.m., Sunday, August 1, 2021, at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Janet was born on October 18, 1949 in Scott County, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late James Franklin "Frank" and Ella Margarette (Rutherford) Niccum and was a graduate of the Aurora High School. Janet was united in marriage on October 28, 1967 in Friendship, Indiana to Michael Peary Turner. This union was blessed with a son, Michael Scott Turner and a daughter, Lori Marie Turner. In 1969, she was employed as a student x-ray technician for eight months and as an out-patient clinic receptionist for Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana until August 1971. She was later employed from 1973-1982 for Aurora Casket Company as a sales office clerk. Janet was employed for Madison Area Educational Special Services from 1985-1986. She was also a former executive secretary for the Hanover College Administration Building from 1986-1991. In 1991, Janet was employed as a secretary and licensed real estate agent for Hoosier Hills Realty in Madison, Indiana until 1995. She was later employed for the Town of Hanover Municipal Building as a part-time secretary from 1993-2005. Janet became a licensed practical nurse on May 14, 2005 from the National Park Community College in Hot Springs, Arkansas. From 1995-1997, she was employed as a real estate agent for Riverscape Reality in Vevay, Indiana. Janet was later employed from 1997-1998 as a legal assistant for Singer Asset Finance Company in Boca Raton, Florida. She was later employed as a part-time administrative assistant for ASWS Panama City Airport from 1999-2000 and as a salesperson for ERA Neubaurer Real Estate in Panama City, Florida from 2000-2001. She was also employed from 1998-2000 for Johnson, Harris, Gerde & Jelks as a legal assistant in Panama City, Florida and as an office manager for Prudential Premiere Properties in Ridgeland, Mississippi in 2002. She was later employed from 2003-2006 for Garland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center as a licensed certified nurse assistant in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Janet received her real estate license from the state of Arkansas and Indiana. In 2005, she was employed as a supervisor and licensed practical nurse for Maxim Staffing Solutions from 2005-2006 and as a licensed practical nurse for Internal Medicine Associates in Las Vegas, Nevada. From 2006-2007, Janet was employed as a licensed practical nurse for Golden Living Senior Center in Hot Springs, Malvern Nursing Home in Malvern, Maxim Staffing Solutions in Little Rock and for Arkansas and Healthpark Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas. From 2007-2010 and 2012-2014, she was employed as a licensed practical nurse for St. Vincent Rehabilitation Hospital in Sherwood, Arkansas. She was later employed as a licensed practical nurse for Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center from 2011-2012. Janet enjoyed traveling, working and loved her dogs.

Janet is survived by her husband, Michael Peary Turner of Vevay, IN; her son, Michael Scott Turner of Beebe, AR; her two grandchildren, Nate and Emma and her several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Marie Turner, died March 17, 1994; her father, James Franklin "Frank" Niccum, died June 20, 1989; her mother, Ella Margarette (Rutherford) Niccum, died May 22, 1995; her sister, Mary E. Curlin, died July 2, 1989 and her nephews, Steven Dale Curlin, died May 25, 1991 and Darrell Alan Young, died February 10, 1994.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2021, by Rev. Wayne Daugherty, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
