Life Story for Jean Ann Pruett (Markland)

Ms. Jean Ann (Markland) Pruett, age 70, passed away at her home in Avon, Indiana on March 21, 2019. She entered this life on April 13, 1948 in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of the late, Edna “Eddie” (Gross) and Denver “Denny” Markland of Vevay, Indiana. Jean was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where she was a 1966 graduate of the Vevay High School. She was also a 1971 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor's degree in interior home design. Jean Ann was united in marriage on September 21, 1974 to Larry Dale Pruett of Clark County, Indiana. She worked as a Purdue Extension agent in her early years after college in Tipton and Jeffersonville, Indiana along with interior design in Louisville. Jean and her family had also lived in the Muncie/Parker City areas where her two children graduated from Monroe Central Jr./Sr. High School. Her special interests and hobbies varied from reading, football, needle crafts, and horses/racing. In her youth she heavily participated with 4-H and the fair. As an adult, she became more passionate with her local Boy Scout troop, master gardening, and family genealogy.

Jean will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Barbara Jane Pruett of Avon, Indiana; her son, Larry Dale Pruett, II of Crawfordsville, Indiana; her brothers, Mick Markland and his wife, Cathy of Avon, Indiana, and Malcolm Markland of Vevay, Indiana.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dale Pruett, died April 1985; her father, Denver “Denny” Markland, died July 2001; her mother, Edna “Eddie” (Gross) Markland, died February 2011; her sister-in-law, Beverly, June 2006.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Avon Lakes Community Clubhouse, Avon, Indiana.
