Life Story for Jerry Dean Bruce

Mr. Jerry Dean Bruce, age 55, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on February 20, 1964, in Dearborn County, Indiana. He was the son of the late, Gerald Adam Bruce and Evelenia "Jane" (Beach) Leap. He was a graduate of the Richmond High School in Richmond, Indiana. Jerry was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, for seven years. He resided most of his life in the Vevay community and was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed playing cards and poker. Jerry passed away with his loving family by his side at 12:09 p.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at his sister's residence in Vevay, Indiana.

Jerry is survived by his son, Wesley Bruce of Carrollton, KY; his sisters, Kathleen Bolton of Vevay, IN and Katina Carter of Vevay, IN; his step-father, James C. "Jimmy" Leap of Vevay, IN; his step-brothers, Roy Leap and his wife, Julie of Vevay, IN and Jeff Leap of Middletown, OH; his nieces and nephews, Audrey Furnish, Kirsten Furnish, Tristen Bolton, Rochelle Bolton, Douglas Ray, Cameron Ray and Carter Ray; his great-nieces, Luna Harmon and Hazel Bolton; his step-nieces, Alyssa Lay and her husband, Corey and Nicole Leap and his step-great-nephew, Ryan Lay.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Adam Bruce, died March 17, 2004 and Evelenia "Jane" (Beach) Leap, died July 23, 2009.

Graveside Services will be conducted Friday, August 9, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at the Mount Sinai Cemetery, Mount Sinai Road, Aurora, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers please, memorial contributions may be made to Mr. Jerry Dean Bruce Memorial Fund c/o Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home. Cards are available at the funeral home or online at

To the family,
I never got to know Jerry that long but he became a very dear friend to me. He never let me stay in my apartment by 5pm he was always getting me out on the porch and talking to him. Through our talks I really became his friend .I have missed him so much not being by me at the apartment. Go fly high Jerry you will never beare not f

Jerry you will be greatly miss by many . I know I didn't know you that long but you touched my heart by not letting me go into depression from just moving there. Everyday at 5 PM you came and got me and you do not know how much I appreciated are a caring friend who I will see on the other side .Go fly high and reunite with all you love loves and friends. I will miss you love you.
