Obituary for Joe Johnson

Mr. Joe Johnson, age 85, of Florence, Indiana, passed away at 8:20 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 2021, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was raised in Florence, Indiana and was the loving son of the late Ernest Bales and Susie Catherine (Thomas) Johnson. Joe attended Florence Elementary School and graduated in 1955 from Patriot High School in Patriot, Indiana. Joe was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, retiring after 40 years of service. He was also employed for Richardson Industries in Vevay, Indiana for nine years. Joe was a golden 50 year member of the Florence Masonic Lodge #27 F&AM. He was baptized at the age of 12 in the Ohio River and was a lifelong member of the Florence Church of Christ. Joe resided all of his life in the Florence community. Joe enjoyed horse racing, watching UK and IU basketball, fishing, as well as, playing euchre and horseshoes. Joe was a very caring and giving person and will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.

His life will be cherished by his twin sister, June Bolden of Cincinnati, OH; his nieces and nephews, Jill Kempf, Sue Franklin and her husband, Darrell, Vicki Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Ernie Johnson and his wife, Brenda, Tom Bolden and his wife, Lisa and Dan Bolden and his wife, Kathy and his several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Bales Johnson, died in 1944 and Susie Catherine (Thomas) Johnson, died in 1980; his brothers, James Ernest Johnson, died in 1935, Elmer Thomas Johnson, died in 2006 and Edward Allen "Ed" Johnson, died in 2020 and his sister, Doris Ann Dixon, died in 1998.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Carrollton I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Carrollton, Kentucky.
