Obituary for Julia Johnson (Jacobs)

Mrs. Julia Ethel (Jacobs) Johnson, age 91, of Berwyn, Illinois, formerly of Switzerland County, Indiana, entered this life on February 14, 1929 in Fairview, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Walston) Jacobs. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana. Julia was united in marriage in December 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Joe Johnson, Jr. Julia and Joe shared nearly 53 years of marriage together until he passed away on August 29, 2007. She was a wonderful homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Berwyn, Illinois. Julia enjoyed gardening and horticulture. Julia passed away at 7:02 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the Oakridge Healthcare in Hillside, Illinois.

Julia will be missed by her sons, Jeffery Johnson of Berwyn, IL and Russell West of KY; her daughters, Theresa Smith and her husband, Daren of Big Lake, MN and Joyce West of DE; her grandchildren, Matthew, Steven, Joseph, Megan, Jessie, Charlie, Andrew, Jason and Erica and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret (Walston) Jacobs; her husband, Joe Johnson, Jr.; her son, Charles "Chuckie" West; her grandson, Mike; her brothers, Warren T. Jacobs, Estall L. Jacobs and Loren "Dick" Jacobs and her sisters, Essie Leola "Dode" Furnish, Wilma "Cindy" Jacobs, Geraldine Mary Crawford, Margaret Keith and Edna "Betty" Johnson.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required along with social distancing. Friends may call 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
