Obituary for Karen Ann Griffin (Scudder)
Karen Ann (Scudder) Griffin, age 73, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on September 19, 1949 in Vevay, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late, Gerald Raymond and Mary Frances (McNeely) Scudder. She was raised in Switzerland County and Jefferson County, Indiana and graduated from the House of James Cosmetology School in Madison, Indiana.
Karen was united in marriage to James Moscoe and later to Gary Carter. Karen was formerly employed for Conn Organ Company in Madison, Indiana. She was a former hairdresser for many years and was also employed for Grote Industries in Madison, Indiana as an operator and laborer, retiring in 2016 after 32 years. Karen was a member of the New Life Fellowship Church in Madison, Indiana. She was also a member of the Major Samuel Woodfill Post #9 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Post #1969 Ladies Auxiliary in Madison, Indiana. Karen enjoyed sitting on her front porch, traveling, especially to Panama City, Florida and going on cruises with her friends Donna Lynn and Joy. She loved softball and riding 4-wheelers and spending time with her grandchildren. Karen passed away at 8:34 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
Karen will be missed by her daughters, Stacey Luellen and her companion, John Northern of Madison, IN and Sheena Carter and her companion, Mikey Logsdon of Madison, IN; her sons, Gary Carter and his companion, Tiersa Adams of Madison, IN, Denny Moscoe and his companion, Michele Bentz of Madison, IN and Darian Carter of Owenton, KY; her grandchildren, Allen Moscoe, Kayla Luellen, Kelsey Luellen, Dakota Luellen, Karena Denning, Landon Carter, Lexi Lay, Kira Carter and Jax Adams; her great-grandchildren, Makenna, Mason, Annika, Talli, Sophia and Dallas; her sister, Vanessa Reagan of Milton, KY; her brother, Maurice Scudder of Florence, IN and her numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Raymond Scudder, died February 27, 1997; her mother, Mary Frances (McNeely) Scudder, died December 20, 1993; her brothers, Dennis Wayne Scudder, died July 29, 1970, Mark A. Scudder, died November 13, 1995, Raymond L. Scudder, died December 15, 2015, Barry Todd Scudder, died March 2, 2016; her sisters, Rita E. Johnson, died September 19, 2008 and Geraldine Bladen, died October 13, 2013; her great-grandchild, Aydan Moscoe and her nephews, Timothy Madison, Daniel A. Bladen and Donnie Bladen.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Scott Kollmann, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
