Obituary for Lawrence "Dillion" Elston

Mr. Lawrence Dillion Elston, age 79, of Pendleton and Anderson, Indiana, formerly of Jeffersonville and Switzerland County and Jefferson County , Indiana. Dillion entered this life on August 9, 1941 in Brooksburg, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late, Clarence and Opal Laura (Brooks) Elston. He was raised on Dowell Ridge on the family farm in Jefferson County, Indiana and was a 1959 graduate of the Central High School in Madison, Indiana. At the young age of 17, Dillion was inducted into the United States Army from 1959-1964 and was honorably discharged. Dillion was united in marriage to the love of his life, Juanita Dawn Boggs on February 12, 1965 at the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. This happy union was blessed with three daughters, Dee Ann, Rev. Debra and Damita. Dillion and Dawn shared nearly 56 years of marriage together until he passed away. Dillion was employed as a steel fitter and welder for Jeffboat in Jeffersonville, Indiana from 1965-1987. Dillion was later employed in maintenance for Greater Clark County Schools from 1987-1993. He was a member of the East Lynn Christian Church in Anderson, Indiana, Anderson Solar Masonic Lodge No. 734 F&AM, Bennington Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 407 and the Middletown Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 110. Dillion enjoyed working puzzles, working on small engines and mechanics. Most of all, Dillion enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and listening to his wife play the piano. Dillion passed away at 11:01 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the Anderson Community Hospital in Anderson, Indiana.

Dillion will be deeply missed by his wife, Juanita Dawn (Boggs) Elston of Pendleton, IN; his daughters, Dee Ann DeShon and her husband, Jim of Pendleton, IN and Rev. Debra Harmon and her husband, Rev. Robert of Muncie, IN; his grandchildren, Robbie and Anna Ferguson of Pendleton, IN; his step-grandchildren, Mathew DeShon and his wife, Taina of Lexington, KY, Brandon DeShon and his wife, Brittany of St. Charles, MO and Bryan DeShon of Lawrenceburg, KY; his 5-step-great-grandchildren; his several nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Janet E. Boggs of Vevay, IN and Jerry and Linda Boggs of Bonita Springs, FL.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Damita Elston; his parents, Clarence and Opal Laura (Brooks) Elston; his brothers, Earl Dean and Lloyd Keith Elston; his sisters, Linda Sue Parker, Shirley Mae Elston, and Donna Lou Layne; his niece, Jennifer Lynn Boggs; his nephew, Grant Boggs and his great-nephew, Trevor Kyle Boggs.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required along with social distancing. Friends may call 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Private family only Funeral Services are being conducted on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043. Bennington Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 407 and the Switzerland Masonic Lodge No. 122 F&AM will conduct services.

Interment and full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana

Memorial contributions may be made to the Switzerland County Masonic Lodge No. 122, Anderson Solar Masonic Lodge No. 734 F&AM, Bennington Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 407, Middletown Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 110, East Lynn Christian Church or the Vevay American Legion Post #185.
