Obituary for Layla Brown

After the death of their cherished golden retriever, Georgie Girl, Julie and Doug Brown waited 6 years to adopt another dog. The pain of losing Georgie was too much to bear. But, after surviving breast cancer in 2015, Julie decided the time was right. Friends and Facebook brought her together with Tara McCarter, and McCarter Kennels in Kentucky. Julie and her grandkids traveled there, and fell in love with all the beautiful pups, but Isabella chose a shy little girl, and the search was over. She was named "Layla", after the Eric Clapton song.

Layla quickly became the heart of the Brown/Breeck family. Her happy personality was contagious. She was a scaredy dog: scared of boxes, bags, sacks, or anything not in her normal life. That brought so much laughter from her family. She didn't like to swim, or playing fetch, or staying outside by herself. She was most definitely a prissy house dog. She DID love riding in the car, on the golf cart, and food. And being by her mommy's side at all times. Mommy loved that, too.

Layla lived a short 7.5 years, but she changed her family forever. We hold onto the hope that Georgie Girl has become her buddy, and has shown her the best places to get all the food she wants. Run free and happily, sweet baby girl. Mommy will see you again one day.
