Obituary for Levi C. Christner
Mr. Levi C. Christner, age 80, of Brushy Fork Road in Canaan, Indiana, entered this life on August 16, 1940 in Adams County, Indiana. He was the son of Cletus and Rebecca (Wickey) Christner, both of whom preceded him in death. Levi was united in marriage to Rosa M. Miller and to this union arrived five sons and five daughters. He was a farmer and carpenter all of his life and was of the old order amish faith. Levi resided in Washington County, Indiana until 1987 when the family moved to Switzerland County, Indiana. Levi passed away at 8:36 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at his residence in Canaan, Indiana.
Levi is survived by his wife, Rosa M. (Miller) Christner of Canaan, IN; his sons, Paul Christner and his wife, Lizzie of Owingsville, KY, Martin Christner and his wife, Mary of Canaan, IN, Mervin Christner and his wife, Taylor of Versailles, IN, Jerry Christner and his wife, Emily of Wichita, KS and Reuben Christner of Canaan, IN; his daughters, Marie Girod and her husband, Levi of Pleasant, IN, Lavina Schwartz and her husband, Reuben of Canaan, IN, Amy Schwartz and her husband, David of Pleasant, IN, Ines Schwartz and her husband, Elton of Butlerville, IN and Laura Longmyer and her husband, Anthony of Pueblo West, CO; 59-grandchildren; 3-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Ester Girod and her husband, Ben of Berne, IN, Becky Troyer and her husband, Joe of Owingsville, KY, Lizzie Yoder of Cynthiana, KY, Sylvia Eicher of Berne, IN and Katie Schwartz of Berne, IN; his brothers, Dave Christner and his wife, Katie of Berne, IN and Cletus Christner and his wife, Emma of Bennington, IN and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Rebecca (Wickey) Christner; his son, James R. Christner; his sister, Mary Yoder and his brothers-in-law, Mervin Yoder, Elmer Eicher and Menno Schwartz.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021 and Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Christner Residence, 359 Brushy Fork Road, Canaan, Indiana 47224.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 9:00 a.m., by Bishop Reuben Wickey at the Christner Residence, 359 Brushy Fork Road, Canaan, Indiana 47224.
Interment will follow in the Old Order Amish Cemetery on Shaw Hollow Road near Pleasant, Indiana.
