Obituary for Linda L. Poling (Green)
Mrs. Linda L. (Green) Poling, age 80, of near Quercus Grove, Indiana, entered this life on August 30, 1942 in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was the youngest child of 12 born to Andrew Peter and Sadie Mae (Peters) Green. Linda was raised on Plum Creek Road in Switzerland County and attended the Vevay High School. Linda was united in marriage on November 7, 1959 to Wilbur E. "Webb" Poling in Madison, Indiana. This happy union of nearly 43 years was blessed with three sons. Linda was employed in the fitting room for US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, retiring in 2000 after 40 years of service. She also was the supervisor in the Training Center. She was later employed as an phone operator in 2000 for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana until 2010. Linda resided on the farm in Quercus Grove since 1974. She was a member since the young age of 14 at Plum Creek Baptist Church. Linda enjoyed working all of her life and working in tobacco on the farm. She loved gardening, antique shopping and hummingbirds. Above all, Linda loved her family deeply and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Linda passed away on Thursday December 8, 2022, at her residence.
Linda will be deeply missed by her son, Steven G. Poling of Patriot, IN; her daughter-in-law, Carol Poling of near Quercus Grove, IN; her grandchildren, Shaina Watson of East Enterprise, IN and Shelby Lucas and her husband, Andy of near Quercus Grove, IN; great-grandchildren, Kali Watson, Kyndal Watson, Kadence Watson, Adeleigh Lucas and Case Lucas; her sister, Lucille Phillips and her husband, Cherry of Vevay, IN; her sisters-in-law, Dollie Green of Patriot, IN, Billie Green of Vevay, IN, Freda Walker of near Quercus Grove, IN, Eva Fette of Florence, IN and Janey Poling of New Albany, IN; her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her faithful companion dog, Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Peter Green, died December 28, 1946; her mother, Sadie Mae (Peters) Green, died July 21, 1985; her husband, Wilbur E. "Webb" Poling, died February 6, 2002; her sons, Wilbur "Dale" Poling, died November 11, 2019 and Michael R. Poling, died February 9, 2021; her sisters, Dorothy Mae Scott, died June 1, 1960, Meredith Scudder, died April 26, 2010, Mary Catherine McManis, died April 23, 2021 and Alberta G. Reed, died July 8, 2021; her brothers, Marvin Green, died November 27, 1967, Allen Green, died May 15, 1986, Arthur "Buddy" Green, died August 23, 2011, Charles Green, died October 19, 2015, Galen M. Green, died November 30, 2019 and Ivan Andrew Green, died August 2, 2021 and her niece, Deanna Lynn Green, died October 4, 2017.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 15, 2022, by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
