Mrs. Marguerite (Schoffner) Schroeder, age 96, of Bedford, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on July 19, 1923 in Vevay, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, Clyde and Bernadine (McKay) Schoffner. She was raised on Popcorn Ridge and later moved on Ferry Street in Vevay, Indiana and was a 1942 graduate of the Vevay High School where she sang in the traveling chorus. Marguerite was united in marriage to Harold C. Schroeder on May 17, 1944, in Madison, Indiana. This happy union was blessed with a son, Harlan Wayne and a daughter, Arlene Ann. Marguerite and Harold shared 58 years of marriage together until he passed away on July 6, 2002. Marguerite was employed as a clerk for the Vevay Package Store from 1940 - 1943. She was later employed for Sullivan's Pharmacy from 1944 - 1946. She helped farm the family farm in Patriot, Indiana from 1946 - 1969. She was formerly employed from 1970 - 1977 for Consolidated Sales Company in Louisville, Kentucky. Marguerite moved back to the Vevay community and co-owned and co-operated with her husband Swiss Arms Apartments from 1972 - 1997 and was employed for Sullivan's Pharmacy from 1970 until the 1990's. Marguerite was a member of the Bennington Order of Eastern Star Chapter No.407, Switzerland County Athletic Club and Vevay Tri-Kappa. She also held membership in the Concord (Presbyterian) Community Church where she sang in the choir and played the piano and later became a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church. Marguerite was a wonderful cook and enjoyed IU basketball, playing cards and working puzzles. She will be lovingly remembered as a happy, kind lady with a beautiful smile and a warm heart. Marguerite passed away at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at the Bliss Place in Bedford, Indiana.

Marguerite will be missed by her son, Harlan Schroeder and his wife, Cheri of Evansville, IN; her daughter, Arlene Ann Brim and her husband, Jeff of Bedford, IN; her grandchildren, Jared Schroeder and his wife, Emily of Vevay, IN, Natasha McMillin and her husband, Jud of Brookville, IN, Elizabeth Brim of Washington, D.C., and Abigail Brim of Bedford, IN; her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Liam, Jasper, Knox and Amelia; her sister, Ruth (Schoffner) Wentworth of Erlanger, KY and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Bernadine (McKay) Schoffner; her husband, Harold C. Schroeder; her sister, Norma Jean Schoffner; her sisters-in-law, Irene Smith and her husband, Paul and Vera McSwain and her husband, Russell; her nephews, Kevin McSwain and Todd Wentworth and her niece, Paula Smith-Mohr.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 7, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Wayne Daugherty at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
