Obituary for Mary Christine Byrd (Wheeler)
Mrs. Mary Christine (Wheeler) Byrd, age 71, of Fairview, Indiana, entered this life on August 20, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was raised in Elmwood Place, Ohio where she attended school. Mary was united in marriage on December 9, 1967 to Bro. Hobert Edward Byrd in Elmwood Place, Ohio. Mary and Hobert shared over 55 years of marriage together and was blessed with three children. Mary was a wonderful homemaker and was a faithful member of the Fairview Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed sewing, singing, playing guitar, crafts, baking and shopping, especially going thrift shopping. Mary went to be with her Lord and Savior at 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2023 at her residence in Fairview, Indiana.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bro. Hobert Edward Byrd of Fairview, IN; her sons, Jedidiah Byrd of Bennington, IN and Christopher Byrd of Garden City, ID; her daughter, Vickie Wisor and her husband, Steve of Greendale, IN; her grandchildren, Bradley Koons, Gabrielle Koons, Elijah Koons, Sean Wisor, Caley Wisor, Kiera Wisor, Zavier Byrd, Jaylyn Byrd, Eden Byrd, Madesyn Byrd, Nathaniel Byrd, Carson Byrd and Caleb Byrd; her great-grandchildren, Ayva Koons, River Koons and Brody Byrd; her brother, Larry Wheeler and his wife, Elsie of Indianapolis, IN; her sisters, Thresa Riordan of Milford, OH and Marlyn Weaver of Maineville, OH; her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Wheeler of Lebanon, OH and Elaine Wheeler of Mainville, OH and her numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Wheeler, died March 5, 1995; her mother, Alma Mae (Gerkey) Wheeler, died November 6, 1990; her brothers, Chester Jasper Wheeler, died, August 27, 2014, William Roy "Bill" Wheeler, died June 4, 2022, Charles Jeffrey Wheeler, died August 13, 2018 and Curtis Herman "Curtie" Wheeler, died October 12, 2014 and her sister, Artie Louella Godbey, died August 5, 1992.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023, by Bro. John Hale and Danny Byrd, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment rites will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2023, in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Madison, Indiana.
