Obituary for Mary Catherine McManis (Green)
Mrs. Mary Catherine (Green) McManis, age 88, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on February 26, 1933. She was the loving daughter of the late Andrew and Sadie M. (Peters) Green. She was raised on Plum Creek where she attended Plum Creek School. Mary Catherine was united in marriage on May 23, 1959 in Kentucky to Joseph S. McManis. This happy union was blessed with a son, Joe Eddie. Mary Catherine was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed babysitting for several families and working on the family farm. She was a member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church. Mary Catherine enjoyed word search puzzles, coloring, gardening and watching Jeopardy as well as, spending quality time with her eleven brothers and sisters. Mary Catherine passed away at 12:40 a.m., Friday, April 23, 2021, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Mary Catherine will be missed by her son, Joe Eddie McManis of Dry Ridge, KY; her grandchildren, Joe McManis of Bloomington, IN and Ian McManis of Detroit, MI; her sisters, Alberta Reed of Waldron, IN, Linda Poling of near Quercus Grove, IN, Lucille Phillips and her husband, Cherry of Vevay, IN; her brother, Ivan Green and his wife, Dollie of Patriot, IN; her sister-in-law, Billie Green of Vevay, IN and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Peter Green, died December 28, 1946 and Sadie Mae (Peters) Green, died July 21, 1985; her husband, Joseph S. McManis, died October 30, 1966; her sisters, Dorothy Mae Scott, died June 1, 1960 and Meredith Scudder, died April 26, 2010 and her brothers, Marvin Green, died November 27, 1967, Allen Green, died May 15, 1986, Arthur "Buddy" Green, died August 23, 2011, Charles Green, died October 19, 2015 and Galen M. Green, died November 30, 2019.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
