Obituary for Mary Louise Downing (Peelman)
Mrs. Mary Louise (Peelman) Downing, age 81, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on January 20, 1939 in Vevay, Indiana. She was one of eleven children born to Frank Edward "E.P." and Mary Naomi (Fulton) Peelman. She was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1957 graduate of Vevay High School. Mary was united in marriage to Raymond Otter on December 23, 1956 and was later united in marriage to Roy Francis Downing on August 12, 1979 at the Vevay Church of Christ. Mary and Roy shared over 24 years of marriage together until he passed away on December 30, 2003. Mary was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana and Steer Restaurant in Madison, Indiana for several years. She was also employed for the State Hospital in Madison, Indiana for several years. She was a member of the Vevay Church of Christ in Vevay, Indiana. Mary enjoyed babysitting and spending time with her family. Mary passed away at 6:59 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2020, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Barbara Coy and her husband, Greg of Vevay, IN, Peggy L. Scudder and her husband, Randy of Vevay, IN, Tammy S. Walton and her husband, Gary of Lawrenceburg, IN and Jacqueline Chatham and her husband, Bobby of Vevay, IN; her sons, Ray Otter and his wife, Connie of Versailles, IN and Micah Downing of Bloomington, IN; her step-daughters, Linda Joy Furnish and LaDona Jean Scudder; her step-sons, Roy Downing, Jr. and Ronald J. Downing and his wife, Vonda; her grandchildren, Derrick Coy, Devin Coy, Erika Coy, Casey Scudder, Jordan Walton, Thomas Walton, Justin Chatham, Drew Chatham, Cheri Otter, Cari Otter, R.J. Otter and Noah Downing; her great-grandchildren, Hayley Coy, Hannah Coy, Harper Coy, Hadlee Coy, Brianna Scudder, Mya Walton, Dominic Walton, Kira Walton, Tristan Walton, Jacob Otter and Faith Oliver; her several step-grandchildren and her step-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Gordan Peelman of Lawrenceburg, IN and Ronnie Peelman of Maysville, SC and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Edward "E.P." and Mary Naomi (Fulton) Peelman; her 1st husband, Raymond Otter; her 2nd husband, Roy Francis Downing; her sisters, Virginia Peelman, Betty Tomlison, Roberta Kearney, Linda Carol Peters and Shirley Ann Marsh; her brothers, Eugene, Robert "Bobby" and Charles "Chuck" Peelman and her niece, Cheryl Lynn Cunningham.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
